I love the "OMG, I'm SOOO HERE" songs.
i.e. "If they could see me now" Sweet Charity, duh. lol
and I'm not sure on the title, but "Here I am"?? from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
I'm working on the one from drs for a pageant coming up.
OH! how about "Hold On" From Secret Garden? Another fave of mine, though in a slightly different vein.

A personal favorite: "Being Good" From HALLALUJAH, BABY! Sung to perfection by Lesley Uggams on the OBC. It has a stunning end, with words "I'll be the best -- or nothing at all" -- and manages to not sound cliche.
More mainstream: "I Can Go The Distance" from the cartoon HERCULES. Actually, not a bad song at all, written by LITTLE SHOP'S gifted composer, to give it cred.

"Being Alive"--Company
"Someone Like You"--Jekyll and Hyde, could maybe work
"Welcome to the World"--A Man of No Importance
"Cabaret"--Cabaret
"Buenos Aires"--Evita
"Rainbow High"--Evita
"Lady's Maid"--Titanic
"Something To Point To"--Working
"Waitress"--Working
"Boy Next Door"--Boy From Oz
"Shine"--Spitfire Grill
"I See A River"--Urinetown (in an odd way)
"Stranger to the Rain"--Children of Eden
"I Resolve"--She Loves Me (might work)
"I'm Free"--Tommy
"Sensation"--Tommy
"Don't Be Afraid" (I think that's the title)--Something's Afoote
"Suddenly Seymour"--Little Shop of Horrors
"I Whistle a Happy Tune"--The King and I
"Don't Quit While You're Ahead"--The Mystery of Edwin Drood (might work)
Someone might have said this, but "Make them Hear You", "We Can Never Go Back to Before", and "The Night that Goldman Spoke in Union Square" (I'm not sure if that's the title), all from Ragtime.
Of course, I think the classics to me have already been posted (Impossible Dream and I am What I am)

Great thread! Lots of good ones mentioned, wanted to add some that well maybe you hafta be a little accepting to put into this category, but I see aspects in them of most...a couple definitely fit
Well not sure it totally applies, but can be thought of "we" instead of "I"-The Gods Love Nubia from Aida
"There She Goes/Fame"-Fame the musical
"Look at Me I'm Sandra Dee(reprise)"-Grease
"Big Blonde and Beautiful"-Hairspray
"Valjean's Soliquoy", "Stars", "Do You Hear the People Sing"-Les Miz
"Before the Parade Passes By"-Hello Dolly!
"And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going"-Dreamgirls
"My Strongest Suit(Reprise)"-Aida
"Tomorrow Belongs To Me"-Cabaret
"I'd Give My Life For You", "Her Or Me"-Miss Saigon
