WTF WHERE IS CARRIE!?!?!?
Any list that picks shows like RENT, JERSEY BOYS, and THE PRODUCERS over these deserves no credibility.
When I opened this thread, I was cringing, expecting to see WICKED, PHANTOM, THE LION KING, CATS, etc. They did go with shows that received both critical acclaim and were also somewhat groundbreaking/important.
I give them credit for that.
Some really good choices like Angels in America & August: Osage County then some really bad choices like Jersey Boys. :/

Where is a link to prove this...just wondering. Do you work at EW?

Any surprise that I am thrilled to see Avenue Q in the Top Ten?
I think the reason we're not seeing shows like CAROLINE OR CHANGE is that they probably wanted to choose shows that were both critical and economical successes.
Hence, Jersey Boys, Producers, etc.
I am actually surprised not to see Ragtime, Miss Saigon, or Les Mis. And say what you will about Weber, it is odd not to see Phantom or Cats on that list.
Jersey Boys is an interesting choice. While it is arguably the definitive Juke Box Musical, I am curious to see how it stands the test of time.
Jersey Boys?!? Hairspray??? This list is a joke.
That's a bizarre list. I don't care what people on this board say, both LES MIS & PHANTOM absolutely deserve to be up there, especially if they have things like JERSEY BOYS or THE PRODUCERS. Like them or not, you cannot discount their phenomenal success & influence.
What about INTO THE WOODS? SUNDAY IN THE PARK..., LA CAGE AUX FOLLES? LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA? URINETOWN? ASSASSINS? RAGTIME? THE LION KING? THE HISTORY BOYS? COAST OF UTOPIA? etc...
Most of that list seems to be The Top Ten Most Popular Well Known Shows Of The Past 20 Years. The people who made don't seem to be that invested in theater.
Where is Lestat & Crybaby is what I want to know?
Jersey Boys?
Um...where is PIAZZA?
Piazza sucks!
They left out Cry Baby, Lestat, Glory Days, High Fidetly, The Wedding Singer, and the Grease revival. Those are top notch musicals!!!!!!!!!
In all due respect, Rent DOES deserve to be on that list..

Yuk why did they combine plays and musicals together.
^^^
Um, cause there both theatre, maybe!
just cause some of the shows won Tonys does not mean they are some of the best out of the 25 yrs
Jersey Boys?
It's "Dreamgirls lite."
No.
Where are LES MISERABLES, THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, and PHANTOM OF THE OPERA?
My favorite choice:
38. Noises Off (1983)
No Light in the Piazza, Passion, Ragtime OR Grey Gardens? This list doesn't count.
Has Sunday in the Park with George celebrated its 25th yet? If not, that's missing too.
JERSEY BOYS? THE PRODUCERS? Really?? I mean, they specifically state "of the past 25 years" and those RECENT 'hits' make them the Top Ten?
This list must not be a Best Of.

Personally, I don't think some of these shows belong in the Top Ten list, but I didn't find any of the choices truly scary.
Marinacat - perhaps the person who made the list got to see the original cast of DOUBT. I personally loved Heather Goldenhersh (and really couldn't imagine Jena Malone being as good or better).
yeah the exclusion of Caroline, or Change and Ragtime pretty much discredits the whole list.
