If Diana can tone down the cuteness about 1500% compared to how she was on Broadway last, then sure.

Though I'd rather it be someone totally new to the show, or a promoted understudy...

I talked to Diana about taking the role but she is going to be far too busy with her baby. (She is pregnant)

I kept suggesting that Lea Salonga would play Fantine, but then I remembered that she is also going to be busy with her new baby.

Why do people keep suggesting those who have done the role before? I want to see someone completely new, not someone who's performed the role on tour and Broadway over 1,000 times.

I am all for letting someone new do the role! Let's give some of these people a chance that have never been on Broadway. Les Miserables' return will draw an audience, no matter what, let's give the new kids a chance with a classic.

I want to see someone new; someone who plays more of the novel Eponine than the girly pop star that she's seemed to turn into in the show.

I'll be brave enough say I disliked Melissa Lyons. She sang the role adequately, but missed a lot of the subtely of the character, and was physically wrong for the part.

Personally, I'd love to see somebody brand-new get the role.

I hated Melissa Lyons. I always love Eponine More than Cosette in the show, but when I went to see the tour in Delaware, I was so dissapointed with Lyons as Eponine. She missed the passion and intensity of the character, not to mention her voice, which did nothing for me.

I agree BroadwayGirl, the Eponine in the novel is so tragic, yet on stage she's just the loud one with the good songs.

I agree. They should give it to someone who is an unknown. However, if we are going by names then I think they should let Julia Roberts play the role...

and I think they should get Carolee Carmello (once Lestat closes) to play Fantine...

I don't think we can say LESTAT is closing right now. It's actually dointg pretty well, filling the big Palace Theatre at 81% this week. Not bad at all. I really hate when people WISH a show would close...think of how many jobs would be gone?
