Erin Dilly's Final Performance

Tonight was Erin's last show in Chitty! It was a very tearful goodbye but also a fun show with a few little adlibs refering to her leaving. Not many people knew that she was leaving so most of the audience was surprised but there was a very beautiful speech made at curtain call in order to thank her and say goodbye. She will be greatly missed in this extraordinary show!

My dream role would be to be myself. To be performing at the Hollywood Bowl and to have an audience there just to see me, as Stephanie. They are there because they like what I do as a singer, an artist and a person (the last being the most important). I enjoy escaping and portraying other characters, but to be accepted and wanted as yourself... that's amazing! --Stephanie J. Block Just one of the many reasons I admire and respect Stephanie!!

re: Erin Dilly's Final Performance

WHAT!?!?!?!? I didn't even know she was leaving? WHAT THE HECK? Usually if the slightest ensemble member leaves a show, there's an outcry. Well this sucks, I'm seeing the show again next week. Who will be in for her?

It's not that i'm so Chitty crazy, but this is really weird for such publicity as a Tony Nominated Actress and a show that is about to close, dont you think there'd be a little more info on this? I mean, playbill isn't running anything and VERY ODDLY, neither has her OFFICIAL website...did she just pick tonight as her last show on a whim?

I'm bummed to hear that. I'm going to the final performance. It wouldn't have surprised me if I heard Raul was leaving, but I didn't expect Erin to depart before the end of the run.

I believe Julie Barnes will be going on for Erin in the remaining few weeks.

I'm sad Erin's gone!

That's good, Julie Barnes has gotten better since the first time I saw her on. I just wish I had been able to see Erin more than once.

re: Erin Dilly's Final Performance

NYC_or_Bust - the reason that there's nothing up on the official website is that I hadn't known the exact date. Erin had told me a few months ago that she would be leaving at the end of November or beginning of December, but I hadn't been in contact with her lately to ask her the precise date.

The news page will be updated today, and the home page will be updated within the next few days.

I don't think she wanted any advance publicity about this, and I'm glad that the company respected her decision.

And I'm not at liberty to say why she has left, but I know it's because she has something coming up next year that she is VERY excited about. And all her fans will be too. More details soon.

re: Erin Dilly's Final Performance

I don't really think it's a secret. She tells people at the stage door when they don't even ask. I mean I just don't think she felt it was necessary to tell broadway.com or anything like that. But I don't think it's a secret.

I want her to do Mary Poppins too! I think she'd be AMAZING in the role! Now we just need to tell that to the people who cast it! Who is in the running anyway? Do we even know that?
