Congrats to her! It's great that she is originating a role on Broadway. She's a very sweet and talented actress.

Is Barbara Cook the narrator? Surely she can't sing anymore at her age?

Posted: 1/6/10 at 1:10pm
No, Phyllis, Barbara Cook is playing Sondheim.
#5

Which Sondheim? The one on Sondheim or the one with Sondheim on?

^ Haha
Interesting casting...such a random, but very talented group of actors. I'm anxious to see this.

Any word on Roundabout releasing tickets for the first performance at the $10.00 price? I'm less interested in a bargain and more curious about watching this show develop - I believe it'll have a interesting gestation and will look very different from the first preview to opening night.
(Oh, and hell, who doesn't like a bargain!)

We'll assume you're joking.

I won a voucher worth two tickets to see this in the Spring. If I can get out there, I might see it. But I have been confused... is it a musical "revue" (I guess) or a concert? I read some descriptions, as well as Roundabout's, and I can't figure it out. Thanks!

So much for the rumor she was going to the San Francisco sit down production of Wicked.

Per 'what is it?' - Going by Todd's description (and) Roundabout's texts provided, I think it's being billed as 'a musical revue-meets-multimedia theatrical experience'. It's certainly not going to be billed simply as 'the songs of Sondheim, a concert'. Not with Lapine at the helm.

They will be. They get some sort of special funding or underwriting or something so they can offer the $10 tickets for every show.
Also, this season, it's been the first four previews. Don't know if that's continuing with SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM, but I'd imagine so.

I'm planning on going to the first preview on March 19th and if anyone can give me more info on the $10 tickets and how to get them I'd very much appreciate it.
I'm a neophyte at this Roundabout first preview thing.
UPDATE: Actually read the news story (always a good start), found the Access Roundabout info and per that, all the $10 seats for the first four performances are sold out.
If anyone knows anything beyond that, I'd appreciate it.

On the day tickets go on sale to the general public, go to roundabouttheatre.org to purchase tickets, enter the code ACCESS10, and choose one of the first four previews. If there are any $10 tickets left, you'll be able to find them in the mezzanine. If not, they will all show up as the full price.

Does anyone know what happened to Michael Arden? I'm glad Euan Mortan is back on Broadway but I was really looking forward to seeing Michael.

According to the linked story, public tickets have been on sale since January, so I think I'm skunked. There are discount codes available and I hope to take advantage of one of them.

Yeah, the $10 tickets for this show sold out within hours. Sometimes they continue to release batches over the next couple days, but not this time.
If you are under a certain age (I think 30, but I'm not sure) you can sign up for Roundabout's Hiptix and get a ticket for $20.

Definitely not under a certain age, but thanks for the idea.
Something on Theatermania suggests there might be general rush for $26.50 but I can't find any confirmation of that elsewhere.

Always mountains one must scale
