Now I'm imagining Merman's "Ladies Who Lunch," "In Buddy's Eyes" and "Chrysanthemum Tea."
She woulda blew the roof offa "Who's That Woman" though.

I get the first two, but Chrysanthemum Tea?

Posted: 3/27/15 at 12:57amEthel Merman as Stella (that's who sings the main vocal in Who's That Woman, right?) would have been fabulous.

Seemed the only appropriate role off the top of my head (though it's usually performed in kabuki drag style).
But her "Welcome to Kanagawa" would have been something to see.

Posted: 3/27/15 at 1:11amI presume you're being facetious. If not, what song in that score can you imagine Merman singing?

You are the only one who posters seem to be afraid of backlash from, Namo
And yes, Willmington, I was being sarcastic.

"Nobody has any reason to be afraid of me."
Really, Namo? Because every time that I post on this board and I see that the first person to reply is someone like you or certain other unnamed posters, my heart skips a beat as I realize that I am going to have to deal with certain amounts of cyberbullying and abuse. That makes me sometimes afraid to say what I really think, and I think that is reason enough.

I seem to remember at some point Andrea Martin did Merman signing Don't Cry For Me, Argentina on SCTV. It was very funny.
I like the story of her complaining about Gwen Verdon's first line in Chicago. "Gwen Verdon goes 'I gotta pee'! That ain't Broadway."
