Posted: 3/1/06 at 10:14pmOkay, thanks. The Sweeney rush tix tend to be partial view, don't they? (Or, someone told me, they tend to be rear mezz.)

eug,
if you ARE interested in seeing hairspray, its INCREDIBLY easy to get lottery tix.. i went on a friday night, and they didn't even call names, just everyone that entered got tix. its prob. the easiest lotto to win, and the show is incredible right now!

Sweeney Rush and Partial View I think are the same - 35-ish.
Rush is last row mezz.
Partial view is orchestra sides. Some of those seats suck. Some are quite nice.
The farther back, the better - if you are at the very end.
TKTS is half off for Sweeney (I think. Or 35% off). So $50, usually, for Orchestra seats.
SRO I think are 35...don't quote me.

Did you just submit your name and they gave you tickets? Or do I submit my name then come back at a certain time to see if my name is "called"? Submit your name 3 hours before curtain, and then what?

Posted: 3/2/06 at 9:48amAll lotteries work the same. You write your name on a card. Then, when it is time, the names are pulled at random and the winners can purchase their tickets. There is a half-hour window to submit your name. You aren't guaranteed to win, so they aren't going to sell you tickets until the time of the lottery drawing.

Posted: 3/2/06 at 10:20amEug - broadwaybox.com gives you discount codes for tickets. Most of the shows are for "off times" like Tues, Wed, Thurs. Right now, you can get POTO tiks for $50 and Hairspray tiks for half off. I think Rent tiks were listed at $60. Right now the discount codes are only good through March 13th, so you will have to check after that for new codes and discounts. Just go to their website to check them out. Lots of folks here have used them. Have fun!

eug,
you have to put your name in between 5 and 5:30, for a Sat. night show, and when I went and put my name in, we waited and then at 5:30, when they were supposed to pull names, the guy goes "alright, everyone gets tickets.. there is enough for everyone", meaning out of the 40 people there, everyone one. it was amazing
i heard the lotto has been really slow like that recently, so if you can go with another person, your chances are impeccable.

I miss NY, haven't been since April of '03. Have fun, Remember you have TKTS as an option for TIX too if you aren't too picky on what you want to see. Steve and I lucked out with FRONT ROW (albeit partially obstructed) half price to see a preview of Gypsy with Bernadette. Last week the following shows were all available on the boards (per tdf.org)

BRIDGE AND TUNNEL
CHICAGO
DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS
DOUBT
HAIRSPRAY
