The Fever, Off-Broadway with Wallace Shawn. I felt awful cause I was there with comps and it was actually very interesting, but I was SO tired (working in the tiny booth at the stage door all day and then heading right upstairs for the show without even stepping outside for a little air...not smart) and his delivery of the whole thing was in such hushed tones that it couldn't keep me alert.

I fell asleep the first time I saw Wicked in Chicago. I was on a train for 20 hrs before I went to the theatre and it was so warm in there. I felt horrible since it was my first time seeing that cast also.
Just this past Sunday at Wicked on Broadway I was fighting to stay awake. I had been up for 30 hrs. I like to sleep on the bus on my trip in but I couldn't. I was in the front row and some people in the show knew I was there. Thank god it was really cold in there which kept me awake.
I also fell asleep at the Crucible back in '89 I believe but that wasn't a favorite show of mine. I kept waking up and being so confused as to what was going on.

Why not? It's a show I love.
I was annoyed with myself for drifting/dozing off during a recent Saturday evening performance of White Christmas because I'd booked the tickets months in advance and was really looking forward to it. I came to a couple of times unsure of what I'd missed (even though my friend filled me in and it wasn't much, but still...).
I made sure I went for a brisk walk round the block during intermission and bought a cold drink before returning to my seat at the very last minute. A few other people at the bar were complaining that the temperature was too high and they felt a bit drowsy - maybe it was subliminal and outdated promo by the Marquis!?
I've also dozed off at a couple of Disney shows but I put that down to them being too long and formulaic (Mary Poppins esp), so I wasn't so bothered (apart from having wasted my money obviously)!
Lol, LifeOfTheParty, I also remember that show being very, very dimly lit at some points, so I can see where you might have had a problem.

It's an expensive nap to fall asleep during a high ticket event. I fell asleep during GYPSY for two possible reasons. (1) Pleasant surroundings and/or (2) Sleep apnea. The event is held in a darkened space with a focus on just the stage. Same thing for the movies or watching TV.
One of the latest popular maladies is sleep apnea. And the apneaists medics would love to give you treatments for it, so they can stay in business.
Why not? It's a show I love.

Loving a show is one thing, 35 times is an obsession.
I almost fell asleep at Hairspray a few weeks ago. Seats were in the rear orchestra (through tdf) and the energy was awful.
I did fall asleep once on stage at Spring Awakening, and this previous Sunday in rush seats. Being tired is so annoying.
I'm genuinely surprised anyone found the energy at Hairspray to be lacking recently (but maybe I was just lucky when I went).
I saw 3 shows earlier this month and the audience's enthusiasm was infectious and palpable, both from the back row for SRO and (esp!) from the front row for lottery.
(I'm still finding it hard to process the fact that this wonderful show is closing so soon...)

I have friends that have seen it more times than that and why exactly does it matter to you? Oh this has to be RockTheSoul from WoO. Or one of you guys from there that has to give me grief with everything I post.
Lol, you ARE obsessed. I have proof.
You have seen Wicked the most out of EVERYONE who posts on WoO. Within less than a year span too.

Like I said before. Why do you care? I love the show. Who cares that I have seen it that many times within a short period? Except for you.
I nodded off during the recent national tour of My Fair Lady. I adored it, but I was so tired and sitting in the back of the last balcony did not make it any easier to see facial expressions. I fell asleep during the second act for a moment or two. I tried so hard not to, but it was inevitable. Still, I enjoyed it very much.
Is it the show.......... really............ or just a few specific performers? Will you still cling to Wicked when Julie leaves or follow her to HAIR like a groupie?

1st act of Tale of Two Cities, but Barbour's booming, lovely voice kept bringing me back. As an aside, what I would give to see Barbour at Sardi's!

I dozed off a bit during the first (of three) acts in August: Osage County. Needless to say, I bounced quickly back to life for the much more eventful following acts.
The only time I had fallen asleep during a show(s) was at the Florida Theatre Conference in Lakeland, FL back in November. I went with my high school, and we were always up late and woke up early, during the morning block of one acts I was always in the audience. And I always fell asleep, no matter how hard I tried to stay awake. I remember waking up one time and seeing talking crayons on stage and being like "what?"
But I was always fine after lunch.
Ha, Calvin, that's true. The lights were dim, it was like he was reading me a bedtime story.
And I almost forgot, but I definitely dozed towards the end of Little Mermaid in Denver last year. Thankfully, I know the story (duh), although I missed some of the plot changes they made for the stage adaptation, so my friends had some explaining to do!

Again why does it matter what I do? I love the show and the performers. Whomever they may be at the time. I am not a "groupie". If Julie does go to Hair I will support her in that the same way I will support Stephanie J. Block and Megan Hilty(plus other Wicked peeps) in 9 to 5 or any other cast member that happens to go to another show.
I will continue to see Wicked until it closes.
I zonked out at Grey Gardens the second time I saw it. I was exhausted (and not feeling all that well) and I got too comfortable in the seat. Luckily it was only for a few minutes.
I have pity for Nicole and Jenny when you see them.
August Wilson's The Gem of the Ocean the 2nd time I saw it. I was out early in the first act.

Why? You are a funny person and I still don't get why you are so into what I do? I really don't want to see Nicole but I will see Jenny if I hear that she is going on.
I really don't want to see Nicole
Why? Because Julie got passed over?
