I am going to see Sunday, the...Sunday of the Tonys. Anyone ever see a show on this day?
We saw the recent revival of "Private Lives" on Tony day.
It was magnificent! And it won two big awards that night.
Everyone was in attendance... I might add... unlike the flury of understudy sheets that fell out of our "Into the Woods" playbill the night before (and it should be said... a certain often absent star did not win herself a Tony).

I saw Spring Awakening....it was electric.
Oh boy! I just got from row center for Sunday in the Park on Tony Day, what could be more exciting!?
I saw Dirty Rotten Scoundrels the day of the Tonys. There was a standing ovation after "Dirty Rotten Number" that went on for some time and Norbert made a joke about needing to get to the Tony Awards on time.
I saw The Light in the Piazza and it was wonderful. Everyone was perfect.
A friend of mine saw Grey Gardens last year on the day of the Tonys.

I saw Spring Awakening the day of the awards [Matinee} and it was a great performance!
I saw "Proof" the afternoon of the Tonys in 2001. It was incredible.
There is a special buzz in the air the whole week leading up to the Tonys. I used to always come down that week and catch all the shows. (I am still coming that last week of May/first week of June but they moved the Tony Awards to the 15th this year.)
THEE big one to get is the first performance after the awards. Saw TITANIC the night after it won and it was electic. Saw it again the last week of teh run and it was sloppy and flat.
Just shows to go yah!
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
