This is really amazing. Can’t wait to see if other theatres will follow their lead on this.
*Amended as to mean “every” except even it’s not. Lol

I see no reason why these Young Vic shows won't be available in the States. Curious whether every performance will have the Director option.

Great news!
And wow, that "Director's Chair" concept is a beyond-brilliant idea. Truly revolutionary.

More details - two performances only. Maybe not every show. Capped at 500 per live stream.
It may change.

Truly. And it allows for it to cost a little less to filming, since they won't be editing.

'It will be “all the productions that we get the rights to,” said Kwei-Armah. “Not just the author rights but the cast. There may be some actors who say I don’t want to do this and then we’ll yield to that.”'
Huge caveat here - many (probably the majority of) writers won't give up these rights easily, so will be interesting to see how much of this grand plan actually materialises.

I had the same thought. Ditto actors, as well. If they aren't compensating them well enough for such a stream, it may meet with some resistance.

Posted: 5/7/21 at 8:35amI read speculation that the cap is equivalent to capacity. So, it is like the YV is adding two shows. Compensation could be based on the two additional performances. That also suggests ticket prices may be consistent with in person prices.

I'm sure this issue will come up from time to time, maybe even once per season. But beyond that, I don't anticipate this being a major roadblock for them. The culture around filming shows in the UK is much more lax. I don't know if the legal / compensation side of it is lax (I hope not), but in terms of getting approval to do it in the first place, it seems to me that most British artists are likely to see it as a pretty normal and beneficial thing.
