J-Lo Damn Yankees

Agreed. Laughable to suggest she wouldn't be a stage draw.

Would love that but I doubt she does.

Cats: The Jellicle Ball to Broadway

Has anyone heard what the advance is on this?

Has the Public Theater lost its relevance?

Since when is this a req for a lobby? Near zero Bway houses have it, NYTW, and more. Sure Signature and CSC do but they run coffee shops out of their lobbies, open during outside hours.

Cynthia Erivo's Dracula - Terrifying Pics!
 Feb 10 2026, 12:32:01 PM

This is hardly the first show not ready for its preview. If she's still struggling weeks from now, ok fine.

But a handful of previews when it's this big a lift is unfortunate but not unimaginable.

GALILEO to Open at the Shubert Theatre, Fall 2026
 Feb 10 2026, 12:21:21 PM

It's also worth noting the Catholic Church apologized for Galileo's conviction in 1993. So, not sure why telling that tale and deeds they apologized for would be anti Christian.

Also, very much agree and comments about the strong score, direction and Raul being brilliant. I imagine they've worked on it since Berkeley.

OH, MARY! Reviews

TheatreMonkey said: "The West End reviews are interesting to read, especially when compared to the raves the production received here -- is it truly a difference in sensibilities, or some mild revenge for many of the recent West End transfers that NYC didn't like? (Critic-wise, at least.)"

It’s fascinating how much they wanted it to be making some broader or deeper point, even referring to it as satire. But it isn’t satire.

I wonder if Am

Liza Minnelli, AI project
 Jan 30 2026, 05:56:13 PM

Y'all. If you don't like AI, don't use it. But to act like hating it or demonizing it is going to make it go anywhere, when it's already everywhere and it's just started.

I say whether it's the book, the song, the AI agreement, we let the girl make some money to pay for her and Lorna's retirement. It's their mother, not ours.

Jamie Lloyd-helmed EVITA revival to play the London Palladium in 2025

There is a new poster for this production on the loading stage door to the right of the lobby- the doors were open and somewhat blocked, so I couldn’t see if there was venue or date info, but it’s very clearly for this production."

Intriguing. Could it have been up from during Sunset times?

THE FANTASTICKS revival, reimagined as a gay love story, aiming for Broadway
 Jan 7 2026, 01:01:21 PM

I just hope it has a way of not being too old fashioned. The gay twist isn’t enough with such a sentimental piece, for me.

NYT: When Sammy Davis Jr. Knocked Out Broadway

Also, if you read it now, it hasn't aged well.

Namely, how the piece talks about his community in Harlem. The language was appropriate for the time, progressive even, but isn't now. Think Mame.

On a side note, and very generally speaking, I've unfortunately concluded that progressive art ages worse than conservative art. While conservative art is often blithely ignorant to injustice or suffering, generally, progressive art that seeks to acknowledge in

He’s sweet but very tentative when talking and singing. Oddly, throws himself into the physical comedy though.

EDIT: Oddly *and charmingly*. If not quite redeemingly. Hopefully he warms into it more.

Kecia Lewis is offended again

Indeed, the better response would’ve been to congratulate Jeannette on booking the job and then glance over at your Tony with gratitude.

If the Deborah Cox rumors are true, I'm especially confused. The role has to be a strong singer but it's a comic role primarily.

Anyone else hear those rumors?

NYT: It’s a Homophobic Slur. What’s It Doing in So Much Theater?

Would it be appropriate to imagine 20 years ahead and he is King and in the play he has a Diana/Charles like scandal in his straight marriage? Would that be "cruelly demeaning to a child"?

I admit the article didn't, but this thread has made me analyze my feelings on the word.

My friends and I (various groups, even, though all Millennial) use it frequently. As a term of affection for ourselves, collectively or individually.

So, when I first read the play, I thought nothing of the title beyond the difficulties they might face marketing it.

But a straight cis femme friend of mine in conversation actually paused and asked if it was ok that she say th

Marla Mindelle (Titanique) and Josh Sharp to Star in A KIDMAN CAROL developmental production

Exactly lol Saying you disliked something and so they had a failure to launch while… commenting on their next project.
