It depends how it does on the West End. I personally don't see it transferring over, but that's just me.
If it does transfer, than the woman playing the role on the West End will likely be given the option to transfer over as well.

Posted: 2/17/06 at 5:36pmIt very well may be the plan, I personally haven't heard anything, but I just don't see it doing terribly well with today's Broadway audiences....unless they stunt cast it.

Posted: 2/17/06 at 7:34pmI would love for it to transfer over, but if it did I would bet the producers would try to get Idina Menzel to do it on Broadway, not that that is necessarily a bad thing, because maybe she could attract a lot of people to keep it open a while. Wasn't the fact that it was in London the reason she didn't do it in the first place.

Posted: 2/17/06 at 8:34pmoooo! I would give anyting if this came back! It is such a great show! I can't see Idina in this role at all.....

Posted: 2/17/06 at 8:38pmI can see Idina doing this. I'd be very interested to see what she would do with this role if she ever played it. Back when she was considered for the London production, I would've wanted to see her in the role over Madonna. But neither of them got the role. Too bad.

I am praying for the day Eva Peron reigns over broadway. I love this show so much, and would love to see on broadway for the first time. That being said I think the Idina thing will not work. Idina's personality and acting does not strike me as the Eva Peron. Personally I could Sara Ramirez in the show. But for me I think that Kristin Chenowith would be the best Eva. She has everything needed to play the lead. She has voice, the personality and much like the real Eva she's a small woman with a big voice.
Also I would also not like to see Eva's character sing "Another Suitcase in Another Hall" like she did in the movie. After having researched the real life Eva extensively this song is not her. Its great when Peron's mistress sings it but thats it. Another note though I would love to see them bring "The Lady's Got Potential" to the stage. As some of you may remember it was in the original concept album, but its best effect was in the movie. Just a few thoughts......

Kristin Chenoweth? No?
I love her, but absolutely not. She does not have the right voice. Nor the constant E's that are to be BELTED. A la LuPone and Lady Paige.
And Idina could not do Eva. Not for long, anyway. This score is miles harder than Wicked's, or Wild Party's, or Rent's. It's not just two or three belty numbers, but half the score is Eva singing, and singing high.
And of course, I am concerned about Idina's acting. Eva is an actor's role, and it would be a egregious decision to not cast an actor/singer in the role.
And her voice is a little thin for my tastes. I like my Eva's big and full voiced.

Honestly, I was hoping it wouldn't revive so I could direct a production of it on broadway in 20 years or so :)
But if there must be a revival now, I'm definitely looking forward to it. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what the set's going to look like.
I just hope it's better than what I would want to do with the show if I were a director, so that I can say "THIS SHOW KICKS ASS!"

I'm not sure if this would happen, but if it did transfer over, I'm sure the producers would go after Idina again. Which--well--score.

No? Last time I saw her was The Public Sings and she looked radiant, happy, and healthy to me...

Posted: 2/18/06 at 12:11amI personally would love to see Idina in the role, but I also want to see the Elena Roger, (she's been cast as Eva for London)because she seems like she's going to be great in the role. Plus, she's actually Argentinean.

Posted: 2/20/06 at 10:41amIn order for this show to make it back to Broadway, you first need 3 dynamic leads. I recently saw the tour in DC and it made for a dull, disappointing evening. I like the score, but the tour (with the original staging) could not compare to the original Broadway production.
