For some strange reason, Iam very excited about Tarzan. I think it will be good. Sweeny Todd Iam not looking foward to. It seems like the show was miscast, in my opinion.

Threepenny Opera Revival with Alan Cumming
-I can't help but be excited about Sweeny, it is Sweeny Todd, I'd see it if they cast a homeless man and the crazy cat woman from the Simpsons.

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

Is A Little Night Music coming next season, too? Because I think I might pass out from happiness just hearing the overture for that one.

Definately Lestat ( I think it's just Lestat now)

Peter Pan!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

You can view all the upcoming musicals and plays on playbill.com. It on the right hand side of the main page called upcoming broadway shows.
(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."

What do we mean by "original." Some story made up out of thin air? Very rarely happens. Nice when it does.
I think if a work done in a previous non-musical form (book, play, movie) is musicalized, than that can be described as "original" since you're starting from scratch as far as the score is concerned.
Just because a show is completely and totally "original" in concept doesn't mean it should be put on a pedestal or in some rarified category. It's tough to do, but there's no special place in heaven for them.
