I saw Simone on Broadway and thought she was OK, nothing to write home about.
But before that, I had the privilege of seeing Merle Dandridge on tour. I worked backstage when she came to Tucson and was fortunate to hear her 8 times and I never got sick of it. She was a marvel and rivaled Heather Headley I believe.

i think the best Belle was Jennifer Hope Wills.
The best Aidas i have seen: Toni Braxton,Saycon Sengbloh and Tarea Campbell.
The worst Aida: Deborah Cox...she's a terrible actress...horrible.

i know this wasn't on the list, but i saw schele williams in august 04 and she was by far, besides heather, the best aida out there!
worst, as someone said, was definitely michelle williams. love her outide of broadway, but as Aida, she was awful.

My favorite Belle replacement was Kim Huber. I worked with Sarah Litzsinger last year - never saw her as Belle but heard from many people that she was great.
Aida - I only saw Heather... like 4 times. Amazing. After she left I just couldn't bring myself to see it again without her. She was the show to me.
