"The average unmarried female, basically insecure, due to some long frustration may react, with psychosomatic symptoms, difficult to endure, affecting the upper resperatory tract.
In other words, just from waiting around for that plain little band of gold, a person can develop a cold."
That was the weirdest lyric ever from GUYS AND DOLLS. My favorite is in my signature.

"Even death won't part us now..."
"to love another person is to see the face of god"
"please, don't you see we've been watched over as we crossed the wildest seas, even god wants us together, can I end this journey please?"
"this face which earned a mother's fear and loathing, a mask my first unfeeling scrap of clothing..."
"i'm still young don't forget this isn't over yet, so many hearts for me to thrill. if you're not here to say how good i look each day, I'll have to find someone who will."
"...I can't eat breakfast, I cannot tie my shoe, what more can i do?"
"with only so much time to spend, don't wanna waste the time i'm given. have it all play the game, some recommend. I'm afraid it just might be time to give in..."

This has to definitely be my favorite from "Rent" and one of my favs of all time. I just can't think of other ones off the top of my head. This is a fun post!
"Life's too short baby, time is flyin'. I'm looking for baggage that goes with mine."
Is that a dumb favorite lyric? For some reason it really had an impact on me when I saw Mimi sing it for the first time.

From "Merrily We Roll Along:"
"Leontyne Price'll sing her medley from Meistersinger."
Only Sondheim could rhyme those crazy words.

i have so many!! they are all my away messages and i dont bother to tell people where they are from. Let the non-theatre ppl keep on wondering! haha
From RENT some of my favorites are
"I didn't recognize you without the handcuffs."

YAGMACB
"If i start writing now when im not really rested it could upset my thinking which is no good at all. ill get a fresh start tomorrow and ill have all of tuesday and its not due til wedsday unless something should happen. Why does this always happen? I should be outside playing getting fresh air and sunshine. I should start writing now. But if i start writing now when im not really rested it could upset my thinking which is no good at all..."
AIDA
"If you dont like your fate change it. You are your own master - there are no shackles on you."

"I want to write music. I want to sit down right now at my piano and write a song that people will listen to and remember...and do the same thing every morning for the rest of my life."
"Seems like I'm in for a twister
I don't see a rainbow, do you?"
"Really what's the difference
if a few ideals get tarnished
A couple of truths get varnished
That's the price I guess"
"Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I'll never know."
"And where the journey may lead me
Let your prayers be my guide
I cannot stay here, my family
But I'll remember my pride"
"I'm trying to hold on
Just waiting to hear your voice
One word, just a word will do
To end this nightmare"
"Don't cry out loud
keep it inside
learn how to hide your feelings.
Fly high and proud
and if you should fall
remember you almost had it all."
"I hate men.
I can't abide 'em even now and then."
"They chain ya and brainwash ya
When you least suspect it
They feed ya mass media
The age is electric"
"You must never loose faith
You must never loose heart
God will restore your trust.
And I know you're afraid,
I'm as scared as you are
But willing to be brave-
Brave enough for love."
"Slipping through my fingers all the time
I try to capture every minute
The feeling in it
Slipping through my fingers all the time"
That's enough for now.

"It's a rip in the bustle and a rustle in the hay and I'll pitch the Quick Fantastic, with flings of confetti and my petticoats away up high. It's a very short way from the fling that's for fun to the thigh-pressing under the table. It's a very short day til you're stuck with just one or it has to be done on the sly. In the meanwhile, there are mouths to be kissed before mouths to be fed, and there's many a tryst and there's many a bed. There's a lot I'll have missed but I'll not have been dead when I die. And a person should celebrate everything passing by."
"Too many people muddle sex with mere desire. And when emotion intervenes, the nets descend. It should on no account perplex, or worse, inspire. It's but a pleasurable means to a measurable end. Why does no one comprehend? Let us hope this lunacy is just a trend."

Here's a real oldie - the song is "Speak Low" from "One Touch of Venus" - music by Kurt Weill, lyrics by the brilliant poet Ogden Nash:
Time is so old, and love so brief
Love is pure gold, and time a thief

Some are Broadway lyrics, some are other lyrics.....
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always wander down in Hell.
~ The Wild Party
In a very unusual way I think I'm in love with you, in a very unusual way I want to cry. Something inside me goes weak, something inside me surrenders, and you're the reason why, you're the reason why! You don't know what you do to me, you don't have a clue. You can't tell what it's like to be me looking at you. It scares me so that I can hardly speak.
~Unusual Way, NINE
You are all I ever want, but this I am denied. Sometimes in my darkest thoughts I wish I never learned what it is to be in love and have that love returned.
~Written in the Stars, AIDA
We want a lady in the street but a freak in the bed!
~Yeah!, Usher Lil John and Ludacris
I could be his life companion anywhere but where we are. Am I a leader? Am I a traitor? Did I take a step too far? Did I take a step too far?
~A Step Too Far, AIDA
In his eyes, I can see where my heart longs to be. In his eyes I see a gentle glow and in that's where I'll be safe I know
~In His Eyes
When you cried I'd wipe away all your tears. When you screamed I'd fight away all your fears. And I held your hand through all these years but you still have all of me
~My Immortal, Evanesence
It's something unpredictable but in the end is right. I hope you have the time of your life
~Time of Your Life, Greenday
The trouble with love is it can tear you up inside, make your heart believe a lie, it's stronger than your pride. The trouble with love is it doesn't care how fast you fall and you can't refuse the call -- see you've got no say at all.
~The Trouble with Love, Kelly Clarkson
I'm sorry for everything I said, and for anything I forgot to say too. When things get so complicated, I stumble and at best, muddle through. I wish that our lives could be simple. I don't want the world - only you. Oh I wish I could tell you this face to face. But there's never the time - never the place. So this letter will have to do. I love you.
~Radames Letter, AIDA
Smile, though your heart is aching, smile, even though it's breaking! When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by! If you smile through your fear an sorrow, smile and maybe tomorrow, you'll see the sun come shining through for you!
~Smile
Cages or wings which do you prefer? Ask the birds. Fear or love baby? Don't say the answer - actions speak louder than words.
~Louder Than Words, TTB
