I recently had the opportunity to catch IN MY LIFE. I am no longer listening to anyone on this board because I actually enjoyed it. Jessica Boevers is wonderful. She reminds me of a young SJP. You can't help but fall in love with Christopher J. Hanke. He's adorable and has a very good voice. That Winston dude (David Turner) is friggin' outta control. The epitome of the club kid. Fabulous costumes. He'd make a great Emcee in Cabaret.
I thought the set and projections were pretty cool as well. All in all, it was a very touching story. The show definitely tugs at the heart. Most of the tunes are quite beautiful. Boevers and Hanke had chemistry. Very real to life.
I'd give it 4 out of 5 lemons. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I must say I was disappointed. Not because it was bad, but because it was good. It had been talked down as the worst show of the decade, and I was hopeful to be part of theatre history. Turns out, I wasn't, and the show wasn't as painful as I thought.
And, I agree on Christopher...he's a star.

Oh Phanty,
Clap your hands if you believe in FAIRIES.
I liked the first story but the second story was really painful.
Why on earth did he include a Dr Pepper and Volkswagon commercial. Al, reminded me of Nathan Lane on steroids and the fairy reminded me of a cross between Dame Edna and Tinkerbell.
It was a very entertaining train wreck.
The Skeleton dance and commercial were so bad they almost crossed over to the dark side.
OY. What a train wreck.
I did think the little girl was very talented. She was the best thing about the horrible show.

Personally, Margo, what made the evening for me was the alchemy between the goings-on onstage and the company with whom I saw this utterly remarkable work.

Actually, Chiarra Navarra, the little girl, is one of the chief atrocities of In My Life.
The one who somehow gets through the show with his dignity intact (no mean feat), is Christopher Hanke, despite the ludicrous things he is asked to do.

That little girl is the scariest thing I've seen on a Broadway stage in years. Fortunately, her terrifically awful vocal technique will remove her from terrorizing another audience before too long.

Posted: 11/4/05 at 12:23pmI'm with Smaxie & Singer. Hava Nagila is a horror in In My Life. Really bad performance. Vocally her voice is strong but unpleasant but her acting is the worst I've seen in years.

Robbiej, Rosemary's baby was also a child.
So was Linda Blair, and Damien, and...
Well, surely you get the drift.

Yeah, but you can tell, she thinks she's the sh*t. So she's fair game, as far as I'm concerned.

Baby Espinoza is not the spawn of Satan.
Satan wouldn't be so obvious.

Hehe. Well, I just did an Exorcist marathon, so I'm assuming she's the natural heir of Pazuzu. Look it up, kids.

Ah, Pazuzu. We had dinner plans and then a show. I mentioned IN MY LIFE...
Anyway, I think Christopher Hanke and David Turner pull through this show fine. Also, Michael Farrina (?) who plays Al does a fine job.

I actually really enjoyed it as well.
I thought Jessica Boevers acting was incredible, given the material she was given, as well as the rest of the cast including little Chiarra, who's voice is out of this world, but not that strong in the acting department.
I do hope they record a CD though.

In this world
You never quite get what ya paid for
So soon it breaks down
And nowhere to be found
Is the salesman who sold it to ya
I tell ya:
In this world
So many things seem to be breaking down
It can take a smile
And turn it to a frown
But when ya feelin' low
It's so nice to know that
Few things in life work as well as a Volkswagen
Quite a little car
Cause so much dependability
Oh, few things in life work as well as a Volkswagen
Quite a little car
Wouldn't you agree?
