WANT: No more threads on this topic for the next two and a half weeks.
WILL: At least two new threads a day, most likely more, and anyone with half a brain making a mass exodus to the off-topic board for tea and crumpets.

Do what you want. These are MY final predictions. The nominations aren't gonna change...so what difference does it make when I make them???
Anyone who wants to express can.
re: FINAL TONY PREDICTIONS#4
Posted: 5/14/08 at 4:25pmWould love to see Cry Baby take everything. Sounds much better than In the Heights does vocally.

I think South Pacific is going to win best revival. I also think In the Heights will take score and Xanadu will get book. (It sure deserves it.)
Those are the glaring differences I see.
re: FINAL TONY PREDICTIONS#6
Posted: 5/15/08 at 1:08pmI hope Peter takes both, he's my best friend's cousin and he was precious upon finding out he was nominated.

I'll bite (for "will"):
Musical: IN THE HEIGHTS
Play: AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY (duh)
Actor, Musical: Paulo Szot
Actress, Musical: Patti LuPone
Actor, Play: Patrick Stewart
Actress, Play: Deanna Dunnagan
Featured Actor, Musical: Danny Burstein
Featured Actress, Musical: Laura Benanti
Featured Actor, Play: Jim Norton (possible upset in favor of Raul Esparza as a consolation prize because of last year)
Featured Actres, Play: Total toss-up, let's say Laurie Metcalf
Director, Musical: Barlett Sher
Director, Play: Anna D. Shapiro
Book and score are also total toss-ups. In any case, all predictions are meaningless because awards shows love to pull at least one big "surprise" winner, especially the Tonys. Last year we had David Hyde Pierce and Julie White, the year before we had LaChanze, etc.

Posted: 5/15/08 at 5:30pmBaritone, I dont think Julie White was an upset or surprise. I actually predicted that as many did. Her performance was superb. DHP and Lachanze however defintily fall under, not only surprise but travesity comes to mind.

re: FINAL TONY PREDICTIONS#9
Posted: 5/15/08 at 5:39pmAlso, remember Avenue Q over Wicked! Sometimes the Tony people are CRAZY! Deffinetly Julie White and DHP were Suprises! Not LaChanze!

re: FINAL TONY PREDICTIONS#11
Posted: 5/15/08 at 7:03pmAll I know is Lin Manuel is going home with one Tony at least. Since he is probably not getting actor they will give him Score. It's amazing! I think it will get Choreography and Lighting and Best Musical and some others

IN THE HEIGHTS and SOUTH PACIFIC will be the big winners.
ITH will get Musical, Score, Choreography, Sound Design, Lighting Design, possibly Featured Actor, and maybe Book.
SP will get Revival, Actor, Direction, Set Design, and Costume Design.
...in my opinion. (And obviously AUGUST will sweep the Play categories.)
