FINALLY ASSASSINS!!

Shoot them all dead tonight. It has been a long time coming for this great work. Barring any major political disaster this show is finally opening on Broadway tonight! Break a leg to all involved in this production, and to all who have worked on the previous incarnations...your blood is on their hands. I mean that in a good way.

I have seen it twice now. Was genutinly moved by it. (Could not stop sobbing at the end-great theater does that to me). Hope it gets a good critical reponse, but in any case go see it if you love GREAT music theater (musical comedy). An outstanding production as well.

Just my opinion, I may be wrong.

Yayyayyay! It was fabulous! I loved the combining of Oswald & the Balladeer. I was iffy going in, but it made perfect sense. & the additional song added a balance that I think a lot of audience members need.
& ushering was fun, too! & I get to see it two more times.

actually, the mezz seats are in someways better because you can see the whole set! (depending where on the mezz, of course)

Looks like the show's only negative review came from Clive Barnes of the Post. I'm thrilled the show finally gets the notice it deserves and such high praise for the score that so many here shot down (pun intended).

My favorite quote is from Lysa Gardner of USA Today:

"His melodies, too, soar with an unsentimental warmth, reminding us that anyone who contends you can't hum this guy's tunes is either musically challenged or just plain lazy."

And Mandlebaum's description of the score, which states much more succinctly what I tried to say in an earlier post about Sondheim's brilliant use of American music:

"What holds up particularly well here is Sondheim's score, a kaleidoscope of Americana that ranges from folk ballads, Sousa marches, and barbershop quartets to soft-rock pop, gospel, hymn, and 'Hail to the Chief...'"

I only wish it could extend through July, so Jarico and I could see it. Hopefully, if sales go well, the show will extend or transfer, but I won't hold my breath.
