It would be interesting to see what effect if any at all this will have on Jersey's Boys weekly gross. Maybe a slight dip with the real deal just a few blocks away?

I highly doubt it. Not to mention the limited engagement is only one week.
I was confused for a bit because the original press release said the Longacre Theatre and I wondersd how that would work in tandem with THE PERFORMERS
What would be more hilarious - if bittersweet - is if Jersey Boys completely beat the real thing at the box office.
I wonder if Frankie Vialli and the Four Seasons will stage door at BOTH the Broadway then the August Wilson a couple of blocks away.
I"d like to see that limited engagement. When I saw Jersey Boys, all it idid was make me want to see and hear the real thing!

hahah funny Jane2 cause when I saw Jersey Boys I wanted to hear the real deal and to this day reach for the musical over Frankie Valli.

"When I saw Jersey Boys, all it idid was make me want to see and hear the real thing!"
Same!
Last time I saw "Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons" perform on TV, it was him and four members of some "boy band." At least that's what it looked like to me.
One "winter" and four "springs." Not remotely the original members ... maybe their grandsons, at best.
After seeing Jersey Boys, I immediately went to itunes and downloaded all their greatest hits onto my ipod. I listen to them often. I would actually be thrilled to see them!
I saw Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons' "Farewell Tour" in 1976.
It's been one hell of a trek, apparently. I wonder if they still sell 8-tracks in the lobby?
Are these performances going to contain any of the original Four Seasons or is it just Frankie Valli and the latest version of the "Four Seasons?" It's being billed as "Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The One. The Only. The Original." I would say it is pretty misleading if none of the original group will be performing...like that infamous Supremes "reunion."

saw Frankie Valli recently at a Casino. Forget the rest of the group, they weren't even born during Valli's hey days......I swear some of His falsettos were pre-recorded, i hope not but I think so.......Frankie, you need to retire gracefully......you had a great career, don't ruin our wonderful memories of the original Jersey sound
.I swear some of His falsettos were pre-recorded, i hope not but I think so......
Oh, pshaw. Next you'll be telling me that Michael Crawford lipsynched parts of "Dance of the Vampires", and that Julie Andrews really didn't sing that high note in "Victor Victoria", and the Christines in "Phantom" don't sing the High E.
Absurd, I tell you. Simply absurd.
Frankie's vocals are not pre-recorded, but they are sweetened by the guy who plays Joe Pesci and by some of the women.
Also, I love Jersey Boys, but don't really have interest in seeing the real thing. I've never been a Valli fan but have seen JB nearly 50 times. Cool that he's here, though!
^ Actually, junkyard was talking about the real Frankie Valli using prerecorded vocals when he saw him at a casino, not the cast of Jersey Boys in the musical.
HAHAHA. I saw "casino" and automatically gravitated to "Paris Las Vegas."
Here's Frankie with his very young Four Seasons singing "Oh, What a Night" not too long ago. They're at least two generations younger than him and sound more like a boy band, as I said earlier.

I miss Gerry Polci, who wasn't an original Four Seasons member, but he did originate the lead vocals (while playing the drums!) on "Oh, What a Night!"
And he was a hottie, to boot!

Jersey Boys rip off?
What is the point?

I'm with ChiChi. A singer? Singing in public? What IS the point?
Thanks for the links, Best12. The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies features a lot of the old groups (though Valli is still out of that theater's price range, I suspect) and they all have one or two original members (or, in a few cases, a son of an original) and a lot of replacements.
The exception is The Four Coins ("Shangri-La"), which still consists of all four original members. But they left show business and did other jobs for 50 years, and only reunite occasionally now that they are "retired" from their real careers.
Judging from your clip, Valli looks too frail, especially next to the Chippendale dancers he has hired to play the Four Seasons. I think I'd rather play his records.

I remember that one of the actors who was in one of the casts of Altar Boyz joined the four seasons act with Valli when he left AB. That was quite a few years ago, but my point is that I doubt if the original group is still together.
