oh my God...I didn't look close but now that I did...you are right! I guess I'd look like that too though if I had to rehearse and open in two days! I wouldn't want to be in her shoes right now...

Yeah...that's much better..How old is she anyway? I keep thinking she's either pushing 40 or just jumped over that fence.

I saw her in Chicago a couple of years ago and really enjoyed her performance as Roxie. I remember being rather frightened of Brenda Braxton...she looked almost too tough!

I spoke too soon about changing the website -- it now reflects Charlotte D'Amboise (and doesn't mention Applegate on it anywhere). Interesting!

Though a web site is relatively easy to modify -- the real deal will be if/when they change the Marquis in New York. That costs a lot of money to do and will be a gamble financially without the pull of Applegate's image.

Perhaps we'll know something more after the Boston reviewers comment on the show and Charlotte's performance.

well I can say her picture in the metro also made her look rather old looking. they have an article on her in there where she talks about the first time she tried out for sweet charity with bob fosse. you can go on their website and read it if you want. I want to hear the reviews.

I received a ticket discount email from Ticketwatch or something that was for Charlotte D'Amboise in the Broadway run of the show. They had graphics of the logo w/ her name on it. Anyone else get these??

Wow. Yeah, I just saw the change on the website. I was saddened by it a bit. Not because of Charlotte, I guess it's just the whole situation, it's kind of sad. Hmm, o well.

As good as she is, does anyone else think she is too old for the part?

The truly beautiful should be lawfully restricted from wearing clothing; and the truly butt-ugly should be lawfully mandated from going naked.

I do think she's too old for it to be perfectly honest. I mean she auditioned for the Charity revival with Debbie Allen twenty years ago. But that aside, my concern isn't really her age, but that in everything I've ever seen D'Amboise in -- her dancing has been steller and she gets the acting and singing jobs done, but she doesn't seem to project that kind of innocent charm that the character requires.

I remain open to hearing how she is in the role though -- maybe she'll really surprise everyone.

Suzy, I got the same e-mail. It surprised me. It seems like they're really expecting Charlotte to open on Broadway. I hope this isn't the case and that Christina will be ready by then.

41 is absolutely not too old to play Charity.

In fact, Gwen Verdon was (surprise! surprise!) 41 years of age when she first created a sensation as Charity Hope Valentine.

SO I do not see why now someone couldn't play the role with that same age!

Looking forward to catching Charlotte in Boston! Break a leg, Charlotte!

I agree 41 is not OLD. Charlotee is more than suited to the role and I am thrilled that she is getting to play one of her dream roles. Brava Charlotte! Merde, girl.
