noticed these fake autographs earlier today, so I felt I should warn everyone if theyre planning on buying. Just take a look at them, and you'll see why they're fake.

The moron spelled Victoria Clark's last name with an "E"

"I obtained this and many of signed playbills from a little old lady in NYC."

Ah yes, definitely authentic, lmao. Yeah, those are some horrible forgeries.

Just, the handwriting is the same for every playbill.

Because someone misspells a ame in an ad does not make the item counterfeit. I'd have a little more evidence than that before accusingsomeone of a federal offense, and possibly ruinging his/her reputation.

Um, besides the fact that:
a) names/autograph spelled wrong
b) autographs totally wrong
c) all SAME handwriting

Anybody dumb enough to buy any autographs off of eBay deserves to get fakes.

Mostly every playbill on there is fake from that seller.

that's interesting...a lot of those autographs look the same as mine. and "they all have the same handwriting" is quite laughable.

Names spelled wrong? In the ad or on the program? You're telling me you've never made a typo?

Look at the way the words are written - same pressure in each autograph. The marker is at full pressure...

trpguyy - I doubt strongly that Victoria Clark would misspell her last name.

obviously I can't say for sure, but I do have Victoria and Matt's signatures on my piazza CD, and I was there when they signed so I know they're authentic. the signature for Victoria Clark on my CD has her letters closer together and her "v", "r", and "c" look totally different then what's on the playbill, but she did draw a little flair thing at the end that kinda looks like an "e".

but, I'm almost positive that is not Matthew Morrison's autograph. his writing, again at least on my CD, looks nothing like what's on that playbill...

Not that this needs anymore proof of forgery but I have a DRS poster signed by the whole cast and none of their signatures come close to matching, neither do some of the ones I have from Piazza.

I would have to agree and say that there is just no way to account for the authenticity of any autograph you obtain on ebay. Your best bet for Broadway items is Broadway Cares; anything from them you can be sure is authentic. Beyond that, unless you write to the theater and get back an autograph, or write to the star and get back an autograph, or otherwise find a place (like a charity, or a fanclub, etc) that offers officially autographed items, I would say "buyer beware." Especially if you're thinking of plopping down a lot of money. In that case, why not make sure it goes to a good cause? The big BCEFA stuff with signed posters and photos and playbills, etc, IS going on right now....

"Anybody dumb enough to buy any autographs off of eBay deserves to get fakes"

I think that was a very heartless thing to say. Many people do not have the luxery of living close to broadway. some want the chance to have something signed by a person they adore , but not have the ability to go to NYC to meet them. It's a shame now we live in a world that gives us the ability to get things signed ,but at the same time have people who use ebay to their own advantage and rip people off. I think it's a shame

I agree- these are most obviously fakes. Espcially when the "La Boheme" one is in the same pen as the "RENT" one, and they are from the same seller. Can we get a little more creative here?

I'm looking at Anthony, Adam and Wilson's autographs right now and they look NOTHING like those, and Idina's is completely wrong as well.

And they said it's from 1996- they didn't have silver Sharpies in 1996.

That Rent one is laughable. Though I feel bad for the bidder who won. Hopefully they'll never know and will just enjoy it.

just so you all know this seller is refunding all winners. a message from him.

"Hi. I have some very distresing news. I have found out that the playbills I had bought from the woman in NYC are NOT authentic signatures. She made me believe they were with fake COAs. I believed her and bought them. So, if you have paid for the item already and it has cleared, you will get a full refund! If you paid by check and it hasnt been cashed, I will shred it. If you havent paid, please do not do so. I am trying to do everything possible to rectify this horrible situation. Please give me little time to refund the money as I have had a number of people already pay for the items. But, I assure you, it will be done! My most sincere appologies!"

so either he realized it or thought he was gonna get caught so he quit and is refunding.
