Fame Movie Remake Cast

I love the original movie, its dark, gritty, beautifully shot by Alan Parker, a great script and an oscar winning score.

Why do i get the feeling the new one is going to be nothing like that.The cast dont sound the best and neither do the creative team

what do you guys think?

To be honest, I'm most excited for Kherington Payne. Loved her on SYTYCD, and I like seeing all of the alums get work (like Neil Haskell in Altar Boyz or Lacey Schwimmer being a pro on Dancing With The Stars.)

not a big fan of remakes but this one might turn out to be okay. i read that the cast includes up and coming music artists and a 17 yr. old music producer named "21 the Producer". a fresh angle on the musical aspect of the film could turn out to be pretty cool.

I'd find it much funnier if it were the other Thomas Dekker. Also Danielle Panabaker is WAY hotter than Kay, I'd much rather see her in the film. Oh well...

Any particular reason they haven't gone for 'names'? I'm sure plenty of current stars would line up for a prestigious musical such as Fame.

Either way, I'm looking forward to it.

Probably the same reason they didn't go for "names" in the ACL revival and why people balked when Mario Lopez was cast. They're trying to make it, it can be distracting if you saw Zac Efron struggling to get ahead. I think you would become more invested in the characters if they were new and fresh.

Winter_Sky-- interesting you should say that. Because when I was watching Hairspray, the whole time, I was distracted by the fact that Zac Efron's character was obsessed with getting his big break...

I love Kay Panabaker. Yes, her sister is prettier, but I honestly think Kay is a better actress-- and she has a lovely singing voice. I used to love her on "Phil of the Future."

I think the names of the characters in the movie are different from the names in the musical.

Gavin = amazing.

It's based off of the stage show which is MUCH different than the original movie. (I HATED the stage show.)
