"Give Up the Toad Now" is to the tune of "You're the One That I Want", while "This House is Freakin' Sweet" is "I Think I'm Gonna Like it Here".
I guess it depends who you are talking to. Some people might but others might get the broadway tune. I saw the This House is Freaking Sweet one.

In one episode Peter mentioned that he and Lois saw the "Jew Man Group" in Vegas, and there's an episode when a large number of African Americans begin to sing "A Brand New Day" from The Wiz. And of course, we all can't forget the episode when Peter directed a production of The King and I.

One that only true musical comedy freaks will get: The song about TV censorship, "The Freakin' FCC", uses melody from a song from TAKE ME ALONG.

The Take Me Along song is "Volunteer Firemen's Picnic".
I know that in Season Two : Episode Two when the family moves into the Puterschmit(sp?) mansion, Peter and the maids do a song that is a parody of "I think I'm gonna like it here" from Annie. Also, I don't know which episode, but Peter and Brian are having a fight and Lois tries to break it up, so she says, "Hey lets all sing show tunes!" Then she begins singing "Anything Goes".
