Totally unfair.
I hear several cast members have already booked new jobs.
Sail on PIRATES.

I enjoyed it more than most. I wish I could go tomorrow, but I have to work.
I am actually sad to see it go. Best of luck to everyone involved in the future!

Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg's new musical, The Pirate Queen — a large-cast period adventure about a not widely known woman from Irish history — ends its Broadway run June 17.

Upon closing, it will have played 85 performances and 32 previews, at a loss of most of its reported $16 million investment.

The Pirate Queen did not receive a single 2007 Tony Award nomination.

Earlier this spring, when Mel Brooks was reported to be circling the Hilton as a home his forthcoming Young Frankenstein, the writing seemed to be on the wall for The Pirate Queen.

It was hardly the worst show I've ever seen, and I did very much enjoy it while I was there. But it was not without its flaws and they were perhaps more than other shows have to deal with. Oh well. I'm glad I got to see it. ^_^

Me too. Very much looking forward to what should be an emotionally packed show.
Whatever you think of the piece as a whole, this cast has been through it, and I'm sure they'll be giving their all this afternoon.

Posted: 6/17/07 at 11:03amIt was worse than it was made out to be. I've seen hundreds of shows in my life -- this was the first time I left at intermission because I just couldn't put myself through another act. I'm sorry, but THAT many talented people involved should be ashamed of themselves for not recognizing the MANY flaws in the show beforehand. Before you bash, the one part of the show that WASN'T abyssmal WAS the cast - the night I saw it they certainly tried - but when the material stinks that badly, the best they could do was hold their nose and plow on.
