"I wish the ceremony went back to the years when the performers were Bernadette Peters, Liza Minnelli, Bea Arthur, Angela Lansbury, Anita Morris, Chita Rivera, Donna McKechnie, and the like."
So you're saying young stars who've gotten rave reviews should be ignored for the legends? Well thank goodness no one who matters really agrees with you because broadway would end soon if that were the case. You have to allow the young who are critically acclaimed as in 20 years you'll be here wishing for a Fantasia performance just like you are wishing for a Bernadette Peters performance now. Her reviews say that SHE can be a broadway legend if she wants. I don't know if Fantasia wants that but Broadway has opened their arms up extremely wide both critics and fans alike. Seems as though the only objectors to her are the five in this thread. LOL.

Uh, okay.
Once again, no one is objecting to her. She's got a load of talent and will do very well on the pop charts, but I doubt if she will be ever known in the history books as a Broadway Star.

Oh, Virgo, you're just making it too easy.

Virgo, I don't know why you seem to be taking so much offense because we don't think Fantasia should be performing on the Tonys.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I wouldnt say that so fast Theatrediva - Like Virgo has said- the people that matter on Broadway have opened their arms wide for Fantasia to stay on Broadway and return. Im sure if she is offered the right part - she would consider it.
Hey Virgo- isnt it funny we are having this discussion with people who havent even seen the performance by Fantasia?
It really makes me want to laugh.
They dont even listen to testing who has seen Fantasia 4 times.
Thats ok in a few years even they will be eating their own words.
LOL.
I saw Michelle Lee a few years back at Carnegie Hall, along with some supposed broadway legends - and she was atrocious. I wasnt sure if she was seriously singing or not. Some legends need to stop performing and let the young brilliant performers have their time.

"Virgo, I don't know why you seem to be taking so much offense because we don't think Fantasia should be performing on the Tonys."
Oh it's you who are taking offense. Obviously your opinion means very little in the broadway world, otherwise she wouldn't be performing. Who can you call to stop her from performing? If the answer is no one, why not move on to someone you can stop from performing at the tony's? I'm getting a good laugh off you folks. , hardly taking offense honey.
what's the matter, is Fantasia living out your dream or something?

Alright, I'm done. It's clearly useless to keep arguing with you Virgo.

Dreamon that is the funny part, they have no idea that I think they are simply hilarious. They are nothing but idol heads, people who've hated her since idol, that has to be the case otherwise why won't they shell out the bucks to see her. Why are they even discussing a person they refuse to see on broadway? Oops, that's right, they are idol heads and can't help it. Too funny.

"Alright, I'm done. It's clearly useless to keep arguing with you Virgo."
Duh, Earth to wonderwizard. I wasn't arguing with you, I don't recall saying anything to you, remember, it was you who took offense to my comment, not the other way around.
we know you guys are unhappy about the tony's, but your mothers should have told you, you can't cry over spilled milk and things you clearly have no control over. Time to accept reality. Call for a boycott of the tony's but you really look nuts posting this here because I'm sure fantasia is still going to show up no matter how many times you say "I don't think fantasia should perform". You likely also think she should not be on broadway either and the nerve of her to earn rave reviews. that girl has so much nerve.

Okay, I'll post this, because it bugs me when people generalize.
Virgo, I have no problem with Fantasia being on Broadway, or getting great reviews. I'm not an "idol head" and I haven't hated her since Idol. I actually think she was great when she performed "I'm Here" on Regis and Kelly". However, that doesn't change how I feel about her performing.
Ditto what Ray said, get a life.

Virgo/Dream DOES have a life.
Do you know how much time it takes to log off one screen name and change it to another so you can have a conversation with yourself because no one else agrees with you.
That, and her full time job as President of the Fantasia Fan Club must take up a lot of time.
It's sad really.

Oh, I'm sorry TheatreDiva. I'm so inconsiderate. How could I not acknowledge the hard work Virgo/Dream has put into creating both accounts, defending Fantasia, and going to see the show nightly to shell out the bucks to see her because apparently if you hate her you won't pay money to see her, but if you love her you see her every night then?

Theatrediva= you are so funny.
I am Dreamon - not Virgo. Believe it or not - Fantasia has more than one fan.
roflmao.
Too bad you arent feeling better- I was hoping you would be out working by now.

ray, I was just thinking that's what you need "a life" then perhaps you'd have something better to do with your time then complain about things you have NO CONTROL over. LOL.
Plus, they are things that at the end of the day will mean nothing to you, loads to fantasia though, she'll have this honor the rest of her life. I really couldn't careless about her performing at the tony's, though, for her it is a huge honor, I'm more impressed with her reviews and that her work has been so critically acclaimed. Take the tony performance away tomorrow and it wouldn't phase me one bit. I know you wish you could say the same about her performing. You're going to crack.

Ray- I havent seen Fantasia as much as Testing. Why are you talking to me about it?
Its sad really. So sad that you would think I would create two accounts.
But hey now that you mention it - maybe you and Theatrediva are one in the same.
I dont need to stoop to those levels.

theatrediva= my life is more fullfilling than an old diva home alone posting on a messageboard because he cant work anymore.
I feel so sorry for you diva. Maybe you will get work soon - or maybe hell will freeze over first.

I'm not sure Ray, since I've never watched Fantasia or really seen much of American Idol, I find it odd that Dreamy/Virgo seems to think I'm an Idol-Head.
How can I 'hate' someone I couldn't care less about?

Theatre Diva- you must be joking. You either love or hate Fantasia.
She gets to you doesnt she- otherwise why would you be wasting your precious time posting about her?
Oh right, I forgot you dont have a job right now. Unlike Ms. Barrino who is gainfully employed.
LOL.
How can one person post as two people at the exact same time? You are really making me laugh.
Like I said before- I have seen more broadway shows than you have appeared, costumed or even seen yourself.
How sad are you that you are wasting your time on a person you care nothing about.
Go talk about your "legends" like Michelle Lee and Bernadette Peters. wasnt it a stunt casting by Reba McIntyre that made Bernadette look like she wasnt a legend?
No offense to Ms. Peters - but Legends come in all ages- not just the over 40 crowd.

Anyway, I was just having fun here but I see the objectors are really serious. It's really a "moot" point really. but anyway, boycott the tony's like almost all the rest of america will anyway.
Or, if you wish hard enough and say it as many times as you can, perhaps her "not performing" might come to pass for ya. Good luck on that guys.

TheatreDiva, it beats me really. As you, I've never seen American Idol either, so why would I hate Ms.Barrino?
We should just be content with the fact that we can get over that unlike other people who insist on bringing Michele Lee and Bernadette Peters into the conversation. How does that happen? Not sure.
Either way, you're fabulous in my book, Ms.Diva...yes, more than Fantasia, sorry!
