If you've read/watched the original show, you won't say that...
Mine will be The Sound of Music.

On the Town, The Gay Divorcee, My Sister Eileen, Holiday Inn.
Cabaret is a fantastic movie, whether you've seen the show or not.

ok... Let me correct myself, cabaret is my favorite movie, as a standalone, without the musical, though i have never seen the show, i would very much like to and know about the differenes of the two, and i appreciate that they are different mediums and different works of art, totally unrelated except for some of the music and the title...

-As a stand-alone, I'd say Cabaret.
-I've always been very fond of the Funny Girl movie.
-Even though it pales in comparison to the muiscal, Chicago. The movie made me a fan of theatre, so it will always hold a special place in my heart.

5. Cabaret

Well, if it weren't so blantantly obvious, Cabaret.
I also love West Side Story, Chicago, and My Fair Lady. My mom tried making me watch Camelot, but I wasn't too into it.

OOh how could I have forgotten Rocky Horror?
My mom sat and watched it with me the other day.
Her overall thought on the movie:
"This is just like Cabaret! People running around and having sex with each other..."
Her thought on Tim Curry:
"He looks just like David Bowie with all that makeup! You know, about David Bowie..."
Her random question:
"Is that a fireman's symbol on Brad's jacket?"
(I love my Mom, I really do).

My favorite musical not based on a Broadway musical would probably be The Band Wagon. (Yes, I know it uses songs from the Broadway revue of the same title. But it's not in any sense an adaptation of the show.)
My favorite adaptation of a Broadway musical is Fiddler on the Roof.

Posted: 11/12/06 at 8:01amRENT isnt the best movie ever, but it didnt stop me from seeing it a million times in theaters. My favorite of all time is Chicago because it was like watching live thratre without being a carbon copy of the show.

I think Chicago is my favorite.
Just because of how they completely changed everything, and it actually WORKED for screen.
I thought the show left much to be desried, while the movie was simply amazing.

Love Chicago too, but really hate the choreography!
Also, love love love Moulin Rouge!
Also, love love love love love Pennies from Heaven!

Posted: 11/12/06 at 9:05amI defiantly loved Chicago, and I've always liked The Wizard of Oz and Rocky Horror. Though some people may not agree with RENT being the best movie, I still really enjoy it. Oh! And Moulin Rouge, gotta love Baz Lurmann for doing such an amazing job.
