What are your favorite cast recordings? Music that makes you laugh/smile/cry every time you hear it? mine are

Sweeney Todd (memories from being in it)
The Last Five Years
Parade
A New Brain (I love Jason Robert Brown)

When someone blunders, we say that he makes a misstep. Is it then not clear that all the ills of mankind, all the tragic misfortunes that fill our history books, all the political blunders, all the failures of the great leaders have arisen merely from a lack of skill in dancing. - Moliere

The one cast album that lifts me up out of a personal "funk" is
Burt Bacharach and Hal David's "PROMISES, PROMISES"

"DREAMGIRLS" is another all-time favorite of mine.

When I hear One Night Only, I just can't sit still.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

My favorites change almost daily. So, I'll give my top 10 (in no order) as of right now: Rent, Taboo, Producers, Chicago (new), Lion King, Wicked, West Side Story (original), Little Shop (new), Avenue Q, Urinetown.

Others cycle in, as well (i.e. Aida, Millie, Joseph (Damian), Fiddler (new or London), and so many more lol)

"The stage is where I live and come alive and act out all the things that go on in my life. It's not just what I do for a living, it's my shrink and my love affair. No one in my life has ever or ever will kiss me on the mouth like this lover called my relationship with my performance."

William Finn wrote both music and lyrics to A New Brain...Jason Robert Brown only arranged the vocal parts. Most shows do have a separate vocal arranger, you just happen to know who he is in this case.

"During this performance, please feel free to let your cell phones and pagers ring willy-nilly. However, do remember that there are heavily-armed knights on stage and you might well be dragged up and impaled." (Pre-curtain announcement at the new Broadway musical Monty Python's Spamalot)
