Was reading the "Songs For A New World" post on the message board, and an odd thought occured to me: now, there are a large amount of Jason Robert Brown fans on this site, and one of the things that impresses me so much about his work is just how beautiful his duets are. So, my question is, what is your favorite duet in any JRB show? This would include "Next 10 Minutes" from L5Y, "I'd Give It All For You" from Songs, and "All The Wasted Time" from Parade. Well, I guess you could include Parade's "This Is Not Over Yet", though it doesn't exactly fit the mold of the previous ones. And if I forgot one, feel free to add it. My personal choice is "Next 10 Minutes". Those violins just do somethin' to me man.

i love "next ten minutes", and i know it's not exactly a complete duet, but when they start singing together in "goodbye until tomorrow/i could never rescue" i go crazy. it's so beautiful when they come in together on the same note.

I have a friend who is CONVINCED that I'd Give It All For You is a song about people who killed themselves (and I stood on the cliff and the second before I jumped)...

that being said, All the Wasted Time is my favorite by far. While I'm not a fan of how Carolee sings the number (who told her she could do a southern accent?) I think that is one of the most beautiful songs in musical theatre.

Although most people wouldn't normally think of this one like that, I am a huge sucker for "Picture Show" from Parade. I LOVE the accents.

"All the Wasted Time" - 'Parade'. I love 'Parade' and it makes me weepy and sentimental just listening to the soundtrack (and I have NEVER even been to Georgia!)

I've never heard Parade, but I'm obsessed with SFANW and L5Y. The problem with this is that L5Y only has one true duet. And even then they only sing together for a very short amount of time. That being said, I LOVE Goodbye Until Tomorrow/I could Never Rescue You even though it's not really a duet. They're not even singing the same song. JRB is a genius though.

"All the Wasted Time", hands down. (And I LOVE Carolee's voice.)

I never could get into Carolee Carmello on that recording. I have the Jekyll & Hyde with her in it, and that one was much better as far as her voice was concerned, in my humble opinion. And its nice to see somebody who likes "Picture Show", so many of my friends think its one of his weaker pieces, but I think its really funny.

Another vote for All The Wasted Time. Probably one of his most beautiful songs, and Carolee and Brent (who is oft-forgotten) are wonderful.

What else has Brent Carver been in? When I heard he got Gandolf, they billed him as like this international superstar actor. And he may very well be, but I've never heard of him beyond Parade.

Jason Robert Brown writes all his love ballads in 6/8. "All The Wasted Time," "I'd Give it All For You," and "The Next 10 Minutes" are all in 6/8. My favorite duet of his is "This Is Not Over Yet."
