OK, in honor of Sound of Music being on network TV now, what's your favorite Rodger's & Hammerstein song?
Mine: People Will Say We're in Love
Close 2nd: You'll Never Walk Alone
I Have Dreamed
I still get chills.

I Have Dreamed from The King and I
For me, the best R&H number is "The Carousel Waltz," truly one of the greatest works of American composition (sorry Oscar) and here's to Oscar for the chilling "You've Got To Be Carefully Taught" which is one of the most moving poems about intolerance ever penned (and a great melody, too).

I second allofmylife. RR must certainly be commended for the brilliant "waltz" that opens CAROUSEL.
But I think I might just love "My Lord and Master" second to it!
I never met a Richard Rodgers tune I didn't like. If I had to chose just one, with Hammerstein, it would be When the Children Are Asleep.

Something Wonderful
What's the Use of Wonderin'
I know it's not R&H, it's well, R&the other H:
ANYTHING from "On Your Toes." ESPECIALLY "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue."
Tough one, but I think "If I loved you" Such a beautiful song..
"Stepsisters' Lament"
I'm weird like that.
I love Something Wonderful.
Glinda, love that avatar!
Edelweiss.
Their last.
"Shall We Dance?" (has to be one of the most romantic/erotic moments in musical theater--if not the most)
"Shall I Tell You What I Think Of You?"
"You've Got to Be Carefully Taught"
You've Got to Be Carefully Taught
I second this. I don't know, there is something that I just LOVE about this song!
Hammerstein or Hart? :P
Gosh, this is hard because they wrote so many memorable songs together. I'll try to narrow it down to a top 5.
1. The Gentleman is a Dope
2. People Will Say We're in Lobe
3. In My Own Little Corner
4. Kiss in a Shadow
5. Younger than Springtime
As for Rodgers and Hart:
1. Bewitched
2. I Could Write a Book
3. Blue Moon
4. Ten Cents a Dance
5. Little Girl Blue
Does anyone have any of the "Musicality" CDs put out by Jay Records? I have both the Rodgers & Hart and Rodgers and Hammerstein CDs among others. There are some great performances on these albums!

People will Say We're in Love
Certainly agreed with The Carousel Waltz, Carefully Taught, and especially My Lord an Master which I think is just beautiful.
But I'd have to say my favorite is "A Wonderful Guy" from South Pacific. A perfect expression of sheer joy. To the point and eminently charming.
But I LOVE Rodgers and Hammerstein. All of South Pacific and sound of Music, and so many gems from their other works.
South Pacific - This Nearly Was Mine, Carefully Taught
Sound of Music - Edelweiss, An Ordinary Couple
