the whole idea of the show kind of creeps Getrude out. his mother has actually suffered from untreated bipolar disorder all her life. not pretty growing up with that either. that's why eve... er gertrude... well, eve...
anyway, Eve also knew someone very well who'd undergone 'shock treatment.'
and there's a haunting line from 'suddenly last summer' -- Elizabeth Taylor realizing that, "there's only one kind of operation they do here! it's on the brain!"
yikes!
