Finding Neverland Concept Album Thoughts?

The new concept album for Finding Neverland is set to be released April 21st, right around the time when it opens on Broadway. It will feature Nick Jonas, Rita Ora, Matthew Morrison, and Gary Barlow ( I think Matthew And Gary, correct me if I'm wrong. ) I think that it's kind of weird to release two albums (the concept album and the cast recording) of the same show in the same time frame. Usually concept albums happen before a show is made, like Evita. What are your thoughts?

Do we even know when the cast album is being recorded? I would think they'd wait until the show actually opened and then release it a few months down the line. And frankly, that's the album I'm planning on buying anyway.

Did we ever hear for sure that they WERE doing a cast album? I have no interest in a concept album.

I wonder if this concept album has been a plan all along, as part of the early deal for Kennedy and Barlow to compose the show.

If anything, it's to expose more of the show's music via popular artists and their fan bases. Kind of like that AIDA concept album. I wouldn't be surprised if it's been planned all along.

They *have* been talking about it since Boston.

I'm sure if that statement about there being a cast album was incorrect, though, they'd probably issue a retraction.

Not that Harv would be champing at the bit to let this material out (ever, but especially right now), but I so badly would love to hear a "concept album" that illustrates what Frankel and Korie had in mind. They're one of my favorite teams, and there are so few scores--to have an entire one erased is just galling.

I just think it is a little odd and off-putting that we haven't heard anything about this.  If it has been delayed, it should have been announced by now.

I was at the show last night and they still have the pre-order sign saying that the estimate ship date is April 21. (Nick Jonas sings Believe) but I dont see anything on itunes or amazon.

How could they not use Jennifer Hudson for Neverland? She sounded great at the Tony's. Who cares about Zendaya

I am very upset by this announcement. Jennifer Hudson slayed "Neverland" and she's a superior singer than Zendaya.

^^^ Maybe Harvey didn't want her because of Color Purple? Whatever the stupid reason is it's a mistake and I think it will confuse people who saw her do it on the Tony's.  Not to mention this concept album seems to have second rate stars (Zendaya, JLo) instead of the ones we were promised (Jennifer, Jessie J) the latter would sell wayyyyy better. But that's just my opinion
