Is anyone else really really dissapointed with the Phantom's voice in that clip? Wow...i'm really let down.
oooooooooooh myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy goooooooooooooosh....
::SCREAMS OF EXCITEMENT::
I enjoyed that very much. It's very true, Gerard's voice takes some getting use to. but after a while it's very nice. he puts more acting in it than most other phantoms.
hopefully, I just think he sounds like he's the voice in an animated movie.
it's not a "traditional" broadway voice. it's sort of it's own category. but i enjoyed it. i dont like the way he pronounces some of the words though. Emmy was incredible though. and Miranda Richardson's gaze, oh my.
I actually was pleasantly surprised with his voice, he had some hard vowels especially on "triumph" but he really did display a lot of emotion at least in that clip. I hope to be pleasantly surprised with the end product.
gerard does take getting used to... but as soon as you hear it in more songs, you'll like it... i know i do
Miranda Richardson looked startlingly like an older Madeleine Kahn for a moment.

UGH im sorry but i have to say that i did not enjoy that. its not only his voice, but emmy's. it just does not sound good. im worried.
WOW! I'm really not impressed with that clip but then again I was not impressed with the stage production either. We shall see.
Thanks for the link!
I have to agree with those who don't like Gerard Butler's voice though. Between this clip and the title song recording I heard, I'm very disappointed. He sounds pretty amateurish. The phantom doesn't have to be an amazing singer--Michael Crawford wasn't--but it needs to be played by an actor who has at least some basic vocal training and technique, which Butler clearly doesn't have.
I'm in love with Emmy Rossum though!

really? she sounds like shes 12. and YES the phantom should have an AMAZING voice. after all he's the one teaching christine...
At least he doesn't have a prissy voice. I will make my final decision when I hear Music of the Night.
i think he sounds great in music of the night
You think so AlisonR? I thought Emmy sounded really good. first off she was 17 when she did the recording. to sound like THAT at 17, she sounds incredible. end of story. or at least MY opinion.
Gerard sounds the best in "Point of No Return/Track Down this Murderer." Infact, it is the best version I have ever heard.

well yeah. her voice does fit with the fact that her character is still learning. but i dont know. i guess im just used to a STRONG voiced christine. maybe they shouldve cast someone a bit older? my friend told me the other day that they also considered anne hathaway for the part. THANK GOD THEY DIDNT, but i guess they were going for younger. i dont know, at this point im kind of rambling. but after hearing parts of the songs on the site and seeing that minute and a half i am very nervous.
i thought they captured the whole "Christine is alone" essence perfectly. Also "someone is always watching" was done very well. Visually stunning as well.
well, Christine is actually younger... so they went closer to the age she's supposed to be.
but then i'm in love with Emmy, so any opinion i give about her specifically will be biased :P

cinematography wise i thought it was BEAUTIFUL
I thought the candles got to be a bit much after a while. See this is the problem with releasing a teaser clip. I will dissect that scene until it cannot be dissected any further!

yeah i know christine is supposed to be young, but have you-on any stage- heard a christine whose voice is as weak as emmy's?? haha i guess this question was pretty pointless since you all are in love with her...
