Flashdance Not So Flash!

Hope it's just a minor hiccup - I'm sure it is. I have now booked my ticket to see Flashdance on November 15. I was at one time reluctant to check this show out but was persuaded to give it a try partly by SADM's glowing praise for the show and partly by the fact that the awesome Victoria Hamilton-Barrit is playing the lead. I've just been listening to the final mix of a recording of a song I've co-written which Victoria has recorded and she sounds incredible on it - so I am really looking forward to seeing and hearing her in Flashdance.

Defo yes but the new marquee over the pavement is really nice.

Oh SADM you have been persistent with your unstinting admiration for this show. I have seen from past posts on here you have very good nose for a good show, however with 'Flashdance' you got me thinking, knowing you are a former dancer, you might have a very strong instinct for movement, which no doubt this show ticks all the boxes for, but for me I am more biased towards story and music, would this show still be one for me to see?

If you answered no, I probably end up seeing this anyway!

I HATE the Flashdance marquee, what I am on about is the brand new iron canopy around the theatre!

Phantom when you go and see Flashdance you know that the story is not going to be groundbreaking, the film had no story. Luckily the musical tries to bring one in and beef out the limited existing one.
I enjoyed the score, it had a few duff songs (but doesnt every show) but had some great ones as well (Long Way Home is great).. Compared to musicals that people will compare it too (Saturday Night Fever, Fame, Grease etc) i think it's far better. Victoria is also a very strong lead as Alex.

All i hope is that some things that were not right with the tour (the song Two Totally Different People needed dumping, the finale dance needed work) etc
