Does anyone happen to know which shows will have tables?
Also for the celebrity autograph tables, do you need to bring your own sharpie or does everyone there have their own?
Can anyone tell me what is the best time to get there? I like relatively close to the city and this is my first time going. The train I'm taking should get me there by around 10-10:30 is that good for the autograph table or should I get there earlier?
It doesn’t matter what time you get there really. The flea market is all day (10am-7pm) so you can walk around wherever and for how long you want.
As for the autograph table, well it depends on who you’d like to meet and just go there for whichever timeslot(s) you want.

The tables don’t even start ‘til 11am, so you’ll be fine getting into the city at 10/10:30.
I’m a first-timer too, but I think that’s about right and hoped that helped! Previous posts on this thread should better explain it too.

The online auction just ended. Bring lots of money because these bids will be going up in the Live Auction.
Okay thanks!
Never mind.
If I'm not interested in the celebrity autograph/photo booth or in the live auction, is it best to get there right when it starts? Rather, are tables with playbills and things like that all set up at 10 or are more tables added as the day goes on?
Oh look at that, coolkid. A thread about the flea market.

what time is everyone getting there? i'll be there by 12ish.
oh and when do they take requests for the photo booth? do you have to be there a certain time to do that? the people i want pictures with are at 1, so idk if i should go earlier.
It technically starts at 10, but if you're really set on finding certain things, go earlier. They start selling before 10.
You make requests for the photo booth while the people are actually at the table. They get pulled from there. So while you might want to get there a little bit early to get on line, you have to wait until their hour.

I will see everybody out at the Flea Market later today. Just look for me in the Celebrity Table line, where I plan to be all day!

There's one autograph time slot that I would like to participate in and I don't want to buy the event poster this year so would it be rude/awkward not to go to everyone at the table in that time slot?? I didn't do it last year, so I'm not sure. Thank you!
bump
I cannot believe people are braggin' about their haul yet. Please feel free to do!
edit: I see there's a whole new thread about it. Never mind.

This was my first time at the flea market and it was a great day but was sadly marred by this 50ish guy who is kinda stalking me. He used to message me online but I blocked him from my myspace. Everywhere I looked today there he was. I was so freaked out! And I couldn't report him because he wasn't doing anything truly threatening. When he asked if I was Eris I said no! But that didn't deter him. People can be so scary!
Luckily meeting so many great people today helped override whatever fears I had.

Let me express my total disgust with how the Celebrity Table was run today.
As many of you observed yesterday, the crowd was down conciderable from previous years. This is either from the quality of talent at the table, or the finincal state of the country right now.
I am a trooper, and was still looking forward to many of the people at the table. I was also looking for the volenteers to be ready when everything started at 11. I was let down on more than one ocassion today by this inept staff, and I am seriously pissed off. I will describe some of the situations.
Autograph-Photo Booth line transfer:
In years past, there were a volenteer walking up and down the line to accomplish this. That was nowhere to be found today. God knows they had enough of then with theit thumb up their behind to have someone to do that. I had to scream my head off to get someone's attention so I could finally get a transfer done. I apologise to anyone who was upset by my yelling, but that shouldn't been necessary in the first place.
[title of show]
When it was time for them to do photos, volenteer KEVIN told the people in line he would get them out to get the picture. I wasn't really upset when he failed to do that with In The Heights the hour before, but I was LIVID when he failed to do it this time. He absolutely lied in my face and had the nerve to act like it never happened. He took away a moment I can never get back, and I despise his actions.
Marian Seldes:
When I finished getting another picture, I wanted to get in line to get a picture with her. The guy carrying the money for the booth told me flat out no. I assumed they had closed off the line for Marian and went back to the autograph line. When back in the line, they let three more people on for her. I want to know why my money wasn't good enough for them when it was good enough for the rest. I feel totally disrespected by that situation.
Failure to announce celebrities at the photo booth:
This really only happened to me once. At the 2PM table, Harriet Harris went over to the photo booth. No one announced this. By the time I realized this, she was gone. I know this wasn't the only time this happened, and it's riduclous.
3PM Table
This was the biggest joke of all. They never notified any one at all, either on the boards ot otherwise, that Phyllis Newman and Timothy Busfield both pulled out. I understand the day-of pull out of Bailey Hanks and Lynn Redgrave, but this situation was completely unacceptable.
These situations made for a bitterswet day for me. I am happy with all the performers I met, for the fact that I got through all the lines, and for getting over 20 pictures, but I am very upset for all of the fowl-ups along the way.
There were less people here of the three years I have come, and it was organized the worst of them. As far as I'm concerned, BC/EFA needs to issue an apology for allowing these situations to happen.
I don't think I am being unreasonable. After all, the goal of this event is to raise as much money as possible for the causes involved. Because of the volenteer's neolithic incompentence, the event a lot less money I was willing to spend.
I know for a fact that there other people who feel the way I do about today's events at the celebrity table. I suggest you do what I am planning to, contact BC/EFA and let them know that they need to improve the situation before next year's flea market.
Thank you fou your time.

Okay, I have been to the flea market before and never bought too much...but today, I learned the secret! After seeing "50 Words" with Norbert Butz in the Village, I got to the market unusually late (5:30-ish) and man, what a difference...the prices were dirt cheap and I got so much stuff I could barely get it all out of NYC. The normally $40 cast-autographed South Pacific CD was down to $20, the T-shirts and window cards for all kinds of shows were down to a buck or two a piece, if that ( I think I scored at least one poster for 25 cents) A $20 Cyrano sweatshirt was mine for $5, a nicely-framed Hairspray window card from the original out-of-town tryout was down to $10. The celebrity autograph stuff was long over, but who cares? I can do that at the stage door, anyway. It is really like a yard sale as it all comes to an end, just fun and practically a giveaway; I think I'll wear my $2 Spelling Bee T-shirt to bed tonight! So there you go, the first 'what I bought' post.

2. Xanadu (really want Xanadu tickets)
3. Spring Awakning
4. Wicked (Doubt I'll get but it's worth a try
5. August Osage County
If you have other offers let me know
in light of April Saul's post, I have to ask if people think it's better to get there earlier in the day or later. My friend and I went early, which I thought was good, because I managed to buy the last autographed marriage certificate from Gypsy. but I do realize that going later means much cheaper prices. so...what's everyone else's opinion?
you want the most out of the flea market, you have to be there for both honestly. Go early for the rarer bigger items that sell fast and once theyre gone theyre gone. Go to lunch, or a matinee and come back for the last hour and pick up the items that they had stacks of for less than they were being sold for earlier. Buy props and such early, buy playbills and posters later.

That's exactly how I feel, Mistress. Get there early for the one of a kinds or few of a kinds. And if you see something that you really want or can't live without get it then bc it will be gone when you go back.
Later in the day can lead to some definite deals. Araca's tshirts were 2 for 5 at the end of the day. They wanted 10 dollars for one tshirt at noon time. I got a bunch of stuff for 25 or 50 cents in the last hour as well.
I usually get lunch or take in a matinee or both and then return for the final few hours.
