1) How many items are each celebrity allowed to sign at the autograph table?
2) Are celebrities allowed to sign things in the photo booth?
3) Do celebrities do their part in the photo booth during their hour of autographs? If so- can you wait until the celebrity comes back to the table to get the signature if they are in the booth when you make it to the table?
3) How early do you recommend getting in line for the autograph table?
Thanks!

Posted: 9/15/13 at 7:16pmIn regard to time; the more you want to meet someone at the table, the earlier you should get there. Two years ago, I wanted to me Jonathan Groff, and the cut the line 3 people before me. I was devastated and cried for about twenty minutes until I found a signed 13 Playbill, which cheered me up. So last year, I made sure to get there at least an hour and a half early, if not more.

Except for the first hour, I don't think they even let you line up until after the previous hour has started (ie, 60 minutes before). And it also depends on who is signing for that hour. Sometimes towards the end of the hour, you can just walk right up and there is no line at all. That being said, there are a bunch of people in the first group who don't do the stage door that much (the Matildas, Sutton Foster, etc) and there might be heavy demand.

Why don't you find out when you go?
I mean, you're going regardless, aren't you?
(Personally, I think it's pretty rude to expect a celebrity to sign multiple items, especially when there is a limited amount of time. It takes more time and there are probably people in line behind you with just one item who could get shut out as you hog up the time. People who try to do this are the worst type of fan, IMO)

I emailed BC/EFA about a week ago asking when the celebs would be posted and how many items per celebs and this is what they responded with:
"We’re still in the process of waiting to hear back from several people we invited, so try checking our website early next week (http://www.broadwaycares.org). You may also check our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/BCEFA) for the latest updates.
You may bring memorabilia from home for them to sign. The max limit is 3 items per celeb."

Posted: 9/17/13 at 8:41amIIRC, last year they instituted that you could not do photos and autographs in the same hour because it was too complicated (having a volunteer save your spot in the autograph line if your person gets whisked away for photos, for example).

Posted: 9/20/13 at 4:34pmI just downloaded the map (an essential Sunday tool). Does anyone remember which booth has the playbills they sell in plastic sleeves, labeled and organized by decade? That is my fave table and I always forget the name of the fine folks who do such a good job organizing that booth. Just want to make sure it's on my Must List. Thanks!

I say this every year and I think it's important enough to repeat every year.
Flea Market is a very cash heavy day. Hundreds of people are carrying about a good deal of cash. Be careful and watch where you put things. If you are given change put it away quickly and try not to just shove things in your pockets or in outside zipper pocket of bags. If you're not the type of person who carries a wallet this might be a good time to buy an inexpensive one. Keep your money in something and not just loose.
This is a fun day and I don't want anyone's experience to be marred because they dropped money or were pickpocketed.

This is going to be my first flea market and I'm going to the autograph booth. I was wondering:
when you get to the actors, do they have time to talk with you or is it a quick sign and go kind of thing?
Also, if I don't really know some of the actors, is it weird to get that cardboard autograph thing?

Posted: 9/20/13 at 6:08pmIt's a quick signing thing. Remember that whatever time you take talking to someone and telling them all about the first time you ever heard them sing "insert song here" and how it made you feel, you're holding up a VERY long line in back of you that's on a very tight schedule, so you're possibly preventing a lot of people from getting into the booth at all.

Posted: 9/20/13 at 7:19pmI'm so glad they moved stuff back into Shubert Alley this year. The area in Times Square the past couple of years always felt so far away from the rest of the action.

I don't think anyone should feel weird about having the celebrities they're not that familiar with at the Autograph Table. There are notepads at each seat so that each celebrity has something to sign. In previous years, there was a mixture of soap stars and Broadway people, and so there was a lot of unfamiliarity, which the celebrities take in stride. It's all for a good cause!
According to the website, there is no table for Lincoln Center or Manhattan Theatre Club. Aren't they usually both there?
Does anyone know who is signing at the Dramatists Guild table? I looked on their website but they don't say anything about the Flea Market at all.

Diva - I think that is the Actors Fund table that has the super-organized Playbills.

So if you don't have anything to sign for the actors, do you just ask them for a paper?
Also, would it be okay if I asked for a picture at the autograph table?
#21Flea Market Questions
Posted: 9/20/13 at 10:25pmYeah, they'll give you what they have. And no, you cannot take pictures at the autograph table. That's what the photo booth is for. Unfortunately you can't do both in the same session either.

It's my first time going to the flea market, and I can't afford the big ticket items at the auction. How much are things at the tables? I know it varies, but aside from playbills, what types of things do they have and how much do those types of items usually go for? Just want to figure out how much money to bring
#23Flea Market Questions
Posted: 9/21/13 at 11:19pmIt really varies. I've seen stuff going from like a quarter up to hundreds of dollars for big or rare items. But, besides playbills, some tables have show props, posters, shirts, costume pieces, cds, videos or dvds, etc... Some groups even just use it as a way to do a garage sale type thing. Like people just donate random stuff they don't want anymore that is not theater related. There are also tables where you can try to win tickets to shows. Just bring what you feel comfortable bringing. Nobody can tell you what you can afford.
