Just curious, does anyone know anything about the Fly By Night album? I know they were in the recording studio late summer-ish (maybe fall) and someone mentioned a while ago that they were planning a holiday release. Did they just scrap it or are they still waiting?
According to this article, published on December 30th, an early 2015 release is planned!

I started listening to this last week, but only got through the first 4 songs. Just couldn't get into it.

I'm listening now on Spotify, and I'm feeling just as mixed about it as I did when I saw it last year. I wasn't able to embrace the lyrics the first time around and a second listen isn't changing that.
Patti Murin is a delight, though.

Just listened to it while at the gym and thought it was bland bland bland. Just nothing interesting. Murin was fine, but her voice grows tiresome after song after song. And I thought Beret was the lead? But he barely sings. Can't imagine this will turn into a thing or anything.

I thought that by not recording any dialogue tracks, including many that happen in the middle of songs, this recording failed to capture the heart and magic of the show. I really liked it at Playwrights, and I love having a professional recording of the music, but it is missing something.
I'm a bit bummed after reading the posts here. I'll listen to the recording later on Spotify. Allison Case is in this!
I'm pretty mixed on this also. I really liked the show at Playwrights but find the recording to be lacking.
The two girls sound similar so I honestly didn't have a clue who was singing at certain times. Following the story was a no go.
So a year later I finally had a chance to hear this.
I gave it three good listens and I just couldn't get into the score, which surprised me as I usually really like this style of musical.
It feels like just when the songs should take off they go nowhere.
(I did like the sandwich song though)
The cast are all terrific (I won't let my personal feelings about PM cloud my judgement of her work).
