Colony Records has the full, (I believe) 2 disc release (it's an import), for $44.99. It is the full show, including songs that weren't on the advertised track list, like Rainbow Tour. I'm deciding whether to buy it. Is it worth it?

There are Amazon UK Marketplace sellers who'll ship it -- new and sealed -- to you in the US for less than half that.
Never buy from Colony.

There's only one version available at Amazon UK and it's a single disc. There's no mention of a double set. Of course it figures that Colony would have the gall to sell one disc for $45.

Posted: 8/16/06 at 8:31pmAh, that's a shame. I'll probably wind up buying it either way, but I was hoping there'd be a more complete version available than just the single disc version.

Posted: 8/16/06 at 8:49pmAre you sure it's the 2006 production? Because I don't think they recorded a 2-disc set of the current revival. There are 2-disc versions of earlier productions of the show, however (and they don't cost $45).

Posted: 8/16/06 at 8:56pmColorful CD casing, pictures of Elena Rogers on the back. It's packaged like a PS Classics release: the card around the CD and the booklet on the outside. I asked the guy about it, he gave me a clueless look and said "it's the import."

Hmmmmmmm........
Just found a CD of the 2006 recording that includes The Rainbow Tour for 12.99 pounds (plus 3 pounds for shipping to the US, which altogether would STILL be about $15 less than the Colony price). I think it's a single disc, though. Is this maybe what you saw?

Posted: 8/16/06 at 9:14pmIt could be. I automatically assumed it was a 2 disc set by the way the tracks were listed on the back. I'm not really sure, to be honest.

I'm not sure what to think, other than it would be really odd for Colony to somehow have a two-disc version of the show that doesn't appear to be available anywhere in the UK (or anywhere else for that matter). I guess the next time you or (me or anyone else interested in this) gets a chance to stop by Colony, we should see if the 20 tracks listed on their CD match the ones linked above from Dress Circle UK.

Posted: 8/16/06 at 9:23pmI'll be over there on Saturday, so I'll check it out. As I said, I'm not sure if it's a 1 or 2 disc Cd. I could be grossly misinforming you with my thoughts. If that's true, I apologize.
#17re: For Those (Americans) Who Want The New Evita Recording
Posted: 8/16/06 at 9:24pmI'm confused. why would some of them have Rainbow Tour and others not? does that mean that the one I ordered already from amazon.co.uk will definitely not have it? or are these mistakes in the track listing?

Posted: 8/16/06 at 9:25pmNo apology necessary. For $44.99 it SHOULD be 2 discs ...... and Elena Roger should come to your house and sing the songs live!

Posted: 8/16/06 at 9:31pmFor $44.99, it better be the best damn CD in the history of the compact disc. I'll be sure to follow up on Saturday.

Posted: 8/16/06 at 9:31pmAnd it IS confusing. I can't imagine that they would release two different versions of the same recording (except for one track) for the same price. I'm guessing -- and only guessing -- that the 20 track listing is probably the correct one and the 19 track listing without the Rainbow Tour at Amazon UK is a mistake.

There is only a single CD 20-track release of the 2006 London Revival, and it does include The Rainbow Tour. The track listing on the back divides the CD into Act One and Act Two which might be where the confusion arose...
According ALWs offical site, his entire catalogue will shortly be available for download:
