The filming notice was not only given to people who purchased and received their tickets for the original closing date (March 1, 2009), but it was also posted on TeleCharge when you purchased the tickets for that date.
This notice is not on the 'new' closing date, unfortunately... which leads us to believe the filming has been cancelled.
Here is what the original note stated:
IMPORTANT NOTICE: This performance of "Gypsy" may be filmed for future purposes. Please be advised that stationary and moving cameras may be placed throughout the theatre as we attempt to capture this historic production on film.
NOTE: note that is does state MAY be filmed -- so it wasn't a firm confirmation that it WAS being filmed.

Its a lot to ask for to get the film process set up in just a little under 3 weeks instead of the planned 3 months.
Hope it does happen but very unlikely now.

"ALL b'way shows are filmed for the Lincoln Center's archives. (I think it is for them.)"
Many shows are filmed by Lincoln Center for their archives, dramamama, but by no means all of them. To view these archives you usually need an equity card and a good reason to view it.
A Lincoln Center archive shoot is a one to two camera deal, static shots. What Gypsy was going to do is more elaborate, with likely a boom camera, maybe some hand-helds, and a few static cameras from different angles, more like a Lincoln Center Live shoot.
If they opt not to do it, though, it won't be because the set-up process takes too long. Set-up time is minimal. The 3 week vs 3 month timeframe is irrelavent. The entire set-up can be done in the morning for the show, even for a more complicated shoot.
