There's a video on YouKnowwhat from what appears to be a documentary. Fosse talks about choreography and footage of what appears to be an Ed Sullivan appearance by Gwen & Co. doing "I'm a Brass Band" and "If My Friends Could See Me Now" is shown. An older Gwen (mid '90's I'm guessing) talks about Fosse.

I'm wondering what documentary this footage is from. I'd post the link but I want to know if I'm allowed to do that first.

I know an older Gwen Verdon talked about fosse in broadway the golden age. It was about Damn Yankees mainly.

This is one theatrical couple who I will ALWAYS regret having missed. Thank God for Damn Yankees (the film)!

I can't really regret missing Verdon since I hadn't really been born yet when she was performing, but God how I wish I could have seen her. In the clip that PJ posted, when she is singing "Whatever Lola Wants" just sitting next to Fosse, you can tell how her body is sort of wanting to get up and dance the number. When she indeed does the whole choreography, you can just tell how well Fosse choreographed for her body.

That YouTube.com clip comes from the Emmy Award winning 1990 PBS documentary DANCE IN AMERICA - BOB FOSSE: Steam Heat, which was produced by Gwen Verdon. It only aired once (yessir, once) and was part of the Great Performances series. It was simply a one-hour documentary covering Bob Fosse's entire career -- stage, television and film.

And before you ask... it was never released on home video (no Beta, no VHS and no DVD) and is even rarely found in the collections of bootleg collectors.

I, of course, have it on DVD.

Jezzis, I don't know it was so rare. I'll find my old VHS copy of it and upload as much as possible to YouTube---just so ljay can see it and BrodyFosse has one less thing to be snotty about.
