Did anyone else get the free AmEx tickets? I got Drowsy Chaperone tickets! All the shows were sold out within a few minutes.
I got Wicked, I'm taking my friend who has never seen it.

You must have been one of the first persons on the site. I kept on refreshing the site and I got on at 12:02 and Wicked and Q were already gone.
I know, I got totally lucky and had no problems with the site this am- when I tried for the US Open tix I could not get on the site at all!
Was AmEx giving away free tickets? Otherwise this may be an "inside" thread.

Yea, they were giving away 6,000 free tickets to 15 different shows for Sept 15. The giveaway started at 12pm and they were gone by 12:05.
Thanks. What a great promotion. I just checked out the AmEx website.
I remembered at 12:06... First, the site wouldn't load cause everyone was trying to get it. Finally got in a few minutes later, they only had like four shows left... I got two tickets to The Wedding Singer (SOOO EXCITED!) and when I finished, I told my sister to try but they were all out...
You have to have specific amex cards to be eligible for these promotions. Next week, they'll be giving away movie tickets and dinner reservations! A great promotion for those amex cardholders in NYC!

BecaUSE AmEx cardholders are poor and can't afford the theater. *sigh*
Good point. But the Amex Student Blue card is a good deal for students, I don't think there is an annual fee for cardholders....

Wicked and Q were gone by 12:02.....Hairspray wouldn't load my request and neither would Drowsy at first but I finally got in around 12:04 and snagged Drowsy tix which was awesome!!

Do you have the web site link? I've looked over their web site but cannot find anything related to the free theater tickets today, or the free movie/dinner next week. Thanks!!
I got Martin Short tickets, which I am happy about. I purposely picked something that I didn't think would be as popular as the others. It was so easy I thought it must be a joke.
Jake, I did the same thing. I figured Wedding Singer tix would be easier to get, so I put in for those and got them.

At first, I thought we were just supposed to sign up and then they'd choose a show at random. I read most of the fine print and thats who it made it seem. So at 12pm when the site loaded, and a list of shows was given, I was flustered and quickly picked Drowsy since I've seen most of the others except for like Heartbreak House. My mom was also getting tickets on the other Amex card we have but by the time she chose her show, it was gone, and then she picked another which was gone, and then everything was gone.
i was unable to do it so i asked my parents too and i forgot to tell the other that i had asked both of them and they both one!! two tix for drowsy and two tix for phantom. no i have to chose which i want!!!

Question for those who were able to get tickets thru this promo...we're supposed to receive a confirmation email with delivery info for the tickets correct??
Aw man! I've never even heard of this! Have they done this before?

Yea, I'm with Liz- I've never heard of this.
Do you have to be a member and have an AmEx card?

Yes. I haven't received an email yet, though. And I believe the tix are suposed to arrive (DHL) on Wed 9/13.
Now my parents have an Amex card through Costco...that doesn't count does it?

i got tickets to spelling bee and my mom did to the drowsy chaperone.. since i already saw drowsy i'm seeing spelling bee with my roommate... actually though.. spamalot & avenue q were the first ones to go..then wicked.. the woman i babysit for (which is how i found out about this) works for the company who did it.. and her co-worker was monitoring which ones were going and how fast and stuff.. she was also saying about 21,000 people were trying to get tickets.. so the ones who got it should be really fortunate.. i know i am!
