I wish it was more of a complete cast recording with less Bono (i just want to scream 'get off the damn album' when he starts singing).I think we could have done without ‘Rise Above 1’ that is not from the show and had one of the tracks that has been left off (like the opening song).

The Fight Music - NY Debut (Feels exciting just listening to it)
Bouncing Off the Walls (I’ve always really liked this song, great rock song)
Pull the Trigger (Love how dark this song is)
No More (stunning, Reeve and Jen sound great)
If the World Should End (Always liked this one)
A Freak Like Me ( I know some don’t like it but i think it’s great, very 80s synths, lots of fun, almost military),
Rise Above 2 - (The actual Rise Above, beautiful)
Turn off the Dark - (Love TV's voice on this)

It’s a pretty good album, not the complete cast album we were hoping for but still good. Listening to the whole thing i have to say the music stands up very well, it has a great energy, the rock numbers work, the ballads are stunning etc. I like a lot of songs on this and hate a couple, but i'm like that with most musicals. I'm shocked at the level of negativity thrown at the music in this show, i can't help thinking that some is purely because it does not sound like musical theatre....at all.
I will be buying it.

Bono is on the cd? Is that him on the 1st Rise Above? It seems they aren't treating this as a cast recording but just as an album. The songs are all out of order. That annoys me a bit.

Yeah hes on Rise Above 1 and sings a few bits on another 1 or 2, hes not that obvious though (except Rise Above 1)

It is annoying the songs are out of order but it's still a pretty good album with some great stuff on there

I saw it last week and didn't find all of the music to be that good. I am listening to it now and still feel the same. Only 3 songs that I liked.

Edit: Love how the BWW article title calls it a soundtrack.

You have to open it with Windows media player and then you'll be able to fast forward and go backwards.

"I just Can't Walk Away (Say It Now)" is so good. especially when that cello comes in.

"Bouncing Off The Walls" is better than I remember it.

The new version of Rise Above sounds so good too with the addition of the beat it really does sound like pop/rock music.


I don't think you guys are giving it a chance.

"Pull The Trigger" might have some good guitar solos and a catchy chorus, but that rap/verse is atrocious. Sounds like a really bad rap musical from the 90s. :

try opening with VLC media player if you have it.... otherwise, im clueless...

I just don't get the hate towards the music, it has some great stuff in there.
Maybe ts just vecause i like the fact it's rock and does not sound so musical theatre that has drawn me in

It's just called Music From Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark.

So while it's not a soundtrack it's not really a cast recording either.

Which I guess explains why the songs aren't in order either. Which is just bizarre.

From what I heard it's not bad at all.

Granted I was expecting something awful based on all the reviews, so my standards were low going in. But I enjoyed it much more than I thought.

I like it.. but I like it for what it is. I don't think that I would like it on stage in a musical. It seems too.. I don't know... acid rock? And I like acid rock. But I think this would just bore the piss out of me on stage, just based off the music.
