A friend of mine is studying drama and needs to do a scene with a French accent. It can include a song, or just be a monologue. We've already discussed Les Miz and Beauty and the Beast- any other ideas? Thanks so much!
Janet Van De Graaff in the Drowsy Chaperone pretends to be French for a scene (with a ridiculously fake accent, but definitely trying for French!)
Jacqueline in La Cage
Madame Giry in POTO
If I'm not mistaken, they're the only characters with French accents in their respective France-set shows.
Is this a male or female friend?
There is, of course, Emile De Becque in South Pacific.

It is a female friend, but she can perform as either gender.
Thanks everyone for your responses!
Then there's "Come Play Wiz Me" from Anyone Can Whistle.
Marguerite St Just in The Scarlet Pimpernel is also the only character who speaks with a French accent in that musical that is split between England & France.
In the first version of the show, there is a song called "Vivez!" which Marguerite introduces French customs/culture to the British.
Of course there's also "Storybook," one of the show's biggest numbers where Marguerite was performing in disguise in the first version, and then it opened the show with Marguerite performing her act at the Comedie Frenchaise!

André in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is French.
He sings 'Chimp in a suit' and 'Like zis, like zat' with a French accent
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Solange from Follies. Ah, Paris! is a great song.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels has Andre who sings both Chimp in a Suit and Like Ziz, Like Zat ( a duet which could be adapted for a single person)

FANNY, or something from one of the three Pagnol plays it's based on.
