Posted: 3/21/11 at 11:36pmA friend of mine is studying drama and needs to do a scene with a French accent. It can include a song, or just be a monologue. We've already discussed Les Miz and Beauty and the Beast- any other ideas? Thanks so much!

Jacqueline in La Cage
Madame Giry in POTO
If I'm not mistaken, they're the only characters with French accents in their respective France-set shows.

Is this a male or female friend?
There is, of course, Emile De Becque in South Pacific.

It is a female friend, but she can perform as either gender.
Thanks everyone for your responses!

Marguerite St Just in The Scarlet Pimpernel is also the only character who speaks with a French accent in that musical that is split between England & France.
In the first version of the show, there is a song called "Vivez!" which Marguerite introduces French customs/culture to the British.
Of course there's also "Storybook," one of the show's biggest numbers where Marguerite was performing in disguise in the first version, and then it opened the show with Marguerite performing her act at the Comedie Frenchaise!
