Looks like it's about the size of the Roundabout cast, as we expected. I just hope they really are using the original book, as Schaeffer said.

Good cast and well worth seeing what the Kennedy Center does with it. No offense, but I thought the original book was the reason why it didn't work the first time.

of course the first thing I had to do was immediately look up who they cast as young Bernadette Peters. Lora Lee Gayer, fresh out of school it appears, looks pretty perfect from the pics on her website.

To say it "didn't work the first time" is to buy into the myth that the show wasn't a success. It ran 15 months and while it was a financial failure - and true many in the mainstream middle-aged Broadway audience were put off bu the dark aspects of the show - the book was very effective.

If there is a flaw - and I am not really convinced there is - it is the fact that the 4 main characters learn nothing from the "Follies" segment. The changes to the ending tried to address this but could never find the right tone. The despair and hopelessness ending was what left many with a sour taste, but it was the most honest. And I for one would rather deal with that than any attempt to make it a "happy ending."

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I also looked her up! I was excited to see that her height is 5'3." That is also Bernadette's height. She definitely looks perfect!

I'm not going to lie, I'm a little bit creeped out by that photo. Is there not one that you could have picked where she doesn't look so much like some creepy mannequin?

She could pass for a young Cyndi Lauper, as well - at least in that pic.
