I haven't had very many, and none that really qualify as funny.
But the one I had today at the RENT matinee amused me. Everyone was standing in the (semi) cold waiting for Will Chase and Matt Caplan (everyone else had come out already). Then Will Chase comes out of the front door, where it's practically impossible to miss him with that hair. Everyone who's been waiting for over a half-hour to see him just sort of stares in silence at him, and he manages to get away without getting attacked by anyone. Antonique Smith (Mimi) and Matt weren't so lucky.

A friend of mine pushed the barricade over on NLB.
And there was this really creepy guy at the Avenue Q stagedoor that told Barrett that he was following him and he could barely speak English, it was like he was talking in tongues or something. Then we couldn't get him to leave when we took a picture and he got in the pic! Half hilarious, half creepy.

Posted: 1/29/06 at 12:54amI am a huge fan of Jeff Goldblum's. So before I saw The Pillowman my cousins and I went to the stagedoor to see if we could catch him before the show. He came and wound up chatting with us for a good half hour..but about 5 minutes in I really started bugging out. I was seriously shaking I was so nervous (of all the people to go fangirl over, it was Jeff Goldblum, I didn't even flip out in front of Hugh Jackman!) Anyway, he saw I was shaking and was like "Are you okay?" and I said "Whoa, yeah, I'm just shaking" to which he replied, "Well, why are you doing that?" and I go "Because, because, you're you, do you know who you are?!" he laughed, I turned red, lol, he gave me a big hug and we took a picture. He was sooo nice! I couldn't get over how chatty and funny he was as well. My cousins make fun of me for that ALL THE TIME. That was my funny stage door moment.

Posted: 1/29/06 at 1:01amHmm, mine would definitely be the time I my nephew met Raul Esparza. In a thick southern accent, my nephew said to Mr. E "Yur dat green dress feller ain't-cha?!" I was mortified, but Raul's face was classic.

Posted: 1/29/06 at 1:05amLast summer at Piazza, Kelli O'Hara was signing my playbill and my damn pen decided to explode. Her "K" ended up being this big grey blob and she was really sorry...and I was like "Oh no, ****, it's totally my fault...stupid pen!" And she tried fixing it and then it exploded again all over my arm. By that time I was just too embarrased to talk, and she was really sorry, and I felt bad that she was sorry...it was not good. But we laughed about it and chatted for a couple minutes anyway. I've stayed away from exploding pens ever since...

Posted: 1/29/06 at 1:07amHmmm. It was probably when I saw Lennon the first time. I was in a beastly mood because I had dropped my camera. I aske dJulia Murney for a picture *if my camera was working.* She asked why it wouldn't be working, and I told her I had dropped it. We took the picture, and she yelled "IT WORKS!" like it was a big miracle, and made such a face. It was very funny.

This is a good one:
I was in London, waiting for Sir Ian McKellen (I forget the name of the play he was in...oops!) The stage door was right next to a strip club, and many bars.
Sir Ian came out, and was incredibly gracious, signing autographs, posing for pictures...a delight.
So, this really skinny and obviously drunk British guy walks up, and sees Sir Ian signing autographs. So he asks me "Who is that?"
I say: "Sir Ian McKellen"
He stares at me, and says "Who is that? What's he been in?"
So I say "He's a prominent stage actor, and has also been in many movies, like Gods and Monsters, Richard III, Lord of the Rings.."
And the drunk guy just starts SCREAMING: "Lord of the Rings!!! LORD OF THE RINGS!"
So he takes out this crumbled piece of paper, and walks over to Ian McKellen, shouting: "LORD OF THE RINGS!! GIVE ME YOUR AUTOGRAPH"
Sir Ian obliges, cause he's a gentleman. Then he politely says goodbye, and gets into his car. And the drunk dude just continues to scream: "LORD OF THE RINGS!! WHOOOO! HEY EVERYBODY, THAT WAS LORD OF THE RINGS!!!"
That just killed me. lol

BroadwayChica, that seriously made me laugh out loud. That's hysterical.
For me it was John Tartaglia when I saw Avenue Q. I told him how big a fan my brother was of his and he graciously signed a playbill for him. Afterwards, I called my brother in front of John to tell him and John said, "Oh, is that your brother? Can I talk to him?" and he got on my cellphone and spoke to my brother in the Rod voice. It was quite funny.

Patti LuPone at Sweeney, after having a couple of French women tell her about how they just arrived from France and it's their first Broadway show and they loved it:

ShuQ, can you elaborate on that barricade incident with Norbert? I'd love to hear how that happened lol I also like to check track of how many people say "I loved you in Wicked!" whenever he comes out. The count is up to 66....in ~15 visits.
I was at the Wicked stage door a few weeks ago and a fan had her cell phone on when Megan Hilty came out. Well Megan came around and the fan mentioned to the person on the other line she was with Megan and Megan offered to say hello to the person on the fun! She actually talked for a whole 2 mins. Hilarious!

broadwaychica, that was hilarious! I think my funniest was when I was with my mom, dad and best friend after seeing Spamalot and Hank azaria came round and the girl next to me pushed her way through to the front of the barricade and said, "hey, Lancelot! Guess what? I'm Jewish." and Hank was like, "Really? so am I." and the girl showed him her necklace of the star of david (i think it was). then David Hyde Pierce came round and the same girl was like, "Hey, where's Sir Batman?" And Daid was like, "Excuse me?" all the other people round her were all staring at her weirdly. and she was like," Yeah, Sir Batman. You're Sir Robin, so where is he?" Daivd laughed at this and said something witty that I can't remember for the life of me. and went on.
that was fun.
oh, and I got Terrence Mann's autograph without really realizing it was him until I read his bio properly and then heard Beauty and the beast cast recording and realized he was in that and that I had seem him on his last day ever of performing as Javert before Les Mis closed. and all I could say to him when i saw him was: "Great show." and "Nice eyes."

Well, I said in I think worst stage door experience about my grandma and Idina Menzel at SWIWS, so I don't want to bring that crisis up again! Usually the funny stage door moments happen when my mom's there. When we saw JLT's last show, there were rumors going around that Idina was there. So my dear old mom says right to JLT, "Is it true Idina's here?" Jen had this look on her face like, "Ummm....no?" Awkward. I don't know about funny, but certainly awkward.
Then there was that time that my mom said to Lauren Kennedy, "We saw you as Eponine!" and I was like, "Mom, she was Fantine!" And Lauren said that either way, she wouldn't remember, or something like that. Once again, awkward.
And lastly, when my mom basically tackled NLB as he ran out the stage door. He forgot to sign our side of the barricade, so she practically hunted him down, and got him to sign something. But it was Norbert, he was still a sweetheart :)

Ooh! I have one:
When I saw "In My Life," someone asked Jessica Boevers if her mother-in-law was coming. Jessica had absolutely no clue what the woman meant, and said as much. The lady just kept going "Is your mother-in-law coming? Is she coming?" and poor Jessica was really confused. I whispered to her, "I think she means (Roberta Gumbel), your mother-in-law from the show." The lady went "YES!" and all was well. It was cute.

I had a pretty funny moment at the spelling bee stage door. Deborah S. Craig was siging autographs for these two little girls. They were both so quiet and she told them to SPEAK LOUDER in a loud, funny way. They sort of smiled, got her autograph, and backed away. So, as she was signing my playbill, she goes to the group, " Aw man. I think I scared them. Now they are afraid of asians!" It was so funny! Then, she went over to the girls and gave them both hugs. Very cute and funny moment!
Also, when I went to the Jersey Boys stage door yesterday, Daniel Reichard who plays Bob Gaudio actually remembered me from the audience! It was so cool and funny!

Spellrent, I think that at Jersey Boys, if you are in the front of the orchestra, they can pretty much see everyone...three of the 4 guys asked me if I was sitting front row stage left, and I said "Yes!" I was impressed that they remembered, but I think that instead of feeling special, it's probably really obvious.
I have a funny Deborah Craig story from Spelling Bee...I went with a Korean friend of mine, and we told her we were Korean-American, and she gets so excited, yelling back to her group of friends standing a few feet away, "HEY! These are my PEOPLE!" We were sooo embarrassed but it was hilarious~

This thread's great! I love every single Patti anecdote. When I met her nothing that funny happened, but I LOVE Patti stories.
I thought of another one (though not as funny as the drunk LOTR fan). After I saw Spamalot, I went to the stage door. Alan Tudyck (whom I loooove) was playing Lancelot etc at the time. There was a little girl, about 8 or 9 years old and she said (obviously prompted by her mom) "You were great!" He looked at her, and asked "You remember what I played?" The girl just drew a blank, so Alan started to act out some of his lines. "We are the knights who say Ni!", "You smell of elderberries!" etc. The girl, and everyone else, just cracked up.

Well Patti is just hilarious! But some of my funnies and favorite stage door moments have occured at Avenue Q. Before my sister and I gave Stephanie her going away gift(a little bag with a card and chocolate) we saw Barrett coming out.
Well about three months before hand my friend and I had met him before the show(he was walking to the theater) and afterwards bumped into him at the subway entrace on 42nd street. Really random.
Back to December, I asked him if I could take a picture with him becuase I had never got one. He looked at me and goes "you've been here before right? I remember you". I said yes and told him my name and jokenly asked him if he was keeping tabs on me. So then he was like "Oh Renee...whats up? yeah defiently keeping tabs. what is this your 5th time?" So then he took a picture with me and was like "see you around". It was hilarious!!!
