Posted: 7/29/08 at 9:40amOkay this is going to show my lack of computer know-how, but what iTunes feature? Could be that I use my Zune more often than my Nano, but still. Does it just make them small and send them to your cell or does it go old-school and make them all melody? Inquiring minds...okay I...want to know. Thanks!

If you have an iPhone, you can create your own 30 second ringtone from iTunes.... It is a shame you cannot do that with other phones.
If my name was Bobby (but it isn't)... I would have a 30 second clip of the opening of COMPANY.

Posted: 7/29/08 at 8:42pmIf you have an Apple computer, you can make ringtones in Garage Band. Works great!
re: Funny Broadway Ringtone#6
Posted: 7/29/08 at 8:46pmWell my name is Rob and I must tell you the first 30 secs of Company ARE rather nice. I had Barbara Cook singing Glitter and Be Gay for the longest time. It's just the chorus. It's unexpectedly gone off in church and packed elevators alike. It's always funny.

Really, it's very simple. I customized some of my favorites with songs that have significance to them. I love it!

I use that website a lot. Just load your song and click customize and you can choose what part of the song you want. Works great!

is there a way to send the ringtones to a normal (none iPhone) phone?

re: Funny Broadway Ringtone#11
Posted: 7/30/08 at 12:17amyou could also use mobile17.com free, but it can take awhile and you can make any song on your computer into a rintone. Will do this for MOST makes/models of cell phones.

You can only do it in iTunes if the song has been purchased in the iTunes store. Lame.
I used to use PhoneZoo but it isn't compatible with my new phone. Or more likely the other way around.

Posted: 7/30/08 at 10:56amYes, I was always a huge fan of phonezoo. So I mourned not being able to use phonezoo with my iPhone. But I've come to love the iTunes ringtone feauture.

Posted: 7/30/08 at 12:52pmI just started using Myxer and I love it. I have the first part of the Club from In the Heights as my main ringtone now!
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofure: Funny Broadway Ringtone#16

My ringtone is Merci Beaucoup M. Godard from Passing Strange.
It's not so much funny as it is awesome.

Mines "Please Don't Touch Me" from YF. It starts with..
You can stick me
You can lick me
You can pinch me til I'm blue
You can bite me
And delight me til I'm blind
You can savage me
And ravage me
I care not what you do
If the lovely filthy things you do
Are only in your mind
You can spank me til I'm red
If it's only in your head
But please don't touch me
So many people find it so funny they call me back just to hear it or tell friends "hey listen to this"!

There is a site called freeringers.net (which isn't actually free, it's $7 per year to use it) where you can make 30-second ringtones and upload them to your phone. It sends it as a text message and then you connect to the site and download it.
My ringtone for text is "Don't Walk Away" from Xanadu, the chorus right after Tony Roberts sings. Then my incoming call ringtone is "Breathe" from In The Heights, starting from "when I was a child, I stayed wide awake, climbed to the highest place on every fire escape..."
"Who here feels like they have no idea what they're doing?" - George, Grey's Anatomy

In high school, I programed my own monophonic versions of "This is the Moment," "What I Did For Love," and "I'm Still Here."
It was uber gay, but I always knew when it was my phone.
