I was at the closing night performance at Spelling Bee in LA tonight, and one of the guest spellers was....Rebecca Feldman. It was really funny watching her interact with the cast up there, and you could see they were trying not to crack up (eventhough they did a few times). Also they could not get her out they called her up four times and gave her the most obscure words including the full word for LSD and she got it right, finally they just made up a word.

I guess if I knew who that was I may understand, but they always try and keep the last speller up for at least two words in a row for laughs, to make it seem like they can't get him or her off the stage.
She spelled lysurgicaciddiethylamide.

Rebecca Feldman is the Conceiver of Crepuscule that morphed into Spelling Bee. she receives conceiver credits for the musical.
In Spelling Bee's earlier incarnation, she played the character that ultimately became Olive Ostrovsky. Olive's back story is based on the character that Rebecca created.
Rebecca in real life is married to Jay Reiss-Vice Principal Panch.
Her participation as a guest speller mush thave been priceless.
What a lovely tribute to Rebecca and a great way for the OBC to end it's run.

That picture is not Rebecca Feldman who conceived the Bee.
If that is picture of the speller from last night, then she just shares the name which in itself is funny for the cast.
And sounds as if she is a great speller

Nice.........
I guess only a really hardcore Bee fan would find this amazing.
...I guess that makes me a hardcore Bee fan, then.

it was such a short run! how in the hell did they make ANY money on it?!
I guess I'm a hardcore Bee fan, then because that's SO COOL!
I told my parents I needed to go for the last performance, but they didn't understand why...ah well. :)

I'm guessing they used the sets from Boston, and since it was the original cast they didn't re-invest in costumes, plus they probably had minimal rehearsal, so really the only costs were load-in and set-up costs (plus the usual salaries, etc.). It's not as if it was a brand new production.
awww. I wish I could have been there.

wait, so it was it the BEE-associated Ms. Feldmann? Or the other girl? Wasn't sure if the first pic-post was from the show or just a random internet search...
I have a feeling it was the Bee-associated Feldman. It WOULD make sense, after all...
Yes, it was the Bee-conceiving Feldman.
After she got lysurgicaciddiethylamide correct, Jay Reiss just looked at her aghast and said "WHO ARE YOU?"

Certainly the impression from the person who started this thread is that it was Rebecca Feldman the conceiver of Spelling Bee.
Funny thing about the other girl's pix is that early on during Crepuscule when Rebecca played a speller named Beth her character looked like that other girl's picture.
See thread for Crepuscule video and view to see what I mean about similarity.

roseaddams or anyone else who was there for final performance last night, Please provide more details. Did anything out of the ordinary occur?
Did audience give them a special send off? Was anyone there from creative team to thank them?
CL,
Now you see why I was giggling to myself.
The LA production was STELLAR! I can't tell you how excited I was to see the ENTIRE original cast. We don't get that very often here in LA.
It will be missed!

Yes TD90016, I found your comment very insightful and witty but didn't know if it was just accidentally so.
How were the performances? Did you get to meet the cast after?
You were very fortunate.
I saw it last week.
I went back and saw my friend Jodi who was the conductor/piano player. Haven't seen her in a couple of years. I just said 'Hi' to the cast members as they were leaving.

What did Jodi say about her experience. Did she get a kick out of Deborah pushing her off the piano bench at every performance?

I sat next to TOM GREEN if that counts. Nobody said anything for the final show and there was no special send off. I think the only person there from the creative team was Rebecca Feldman (the one who created Spelling Bee, not the one theatrediva posted). The only thing that I heard was before the show you could clearly hear the cast doing a cheer or something, but that might have been because I was right next to the door to backstage.
