Posted: 5/27/12 at 10:31pmit's fun- 3 quality leads- Caissie, Richard, and Da'vine (sp?)- it's nothing intense or relaly meaningful- it's like Mama Mia!- Once, Next to Normal- those are shows that really have substance- and heart

Posted: 5/27/12 at 10:54pmDepends on Mom's age perhaps. Took my mom on Wednesday, she found it loud, had a hard time understanding the lyrics because of the sound mixing, and got a bit seasick from the projections.

Posted: 5/27/12 at 11:35pmThe cast on the album are the original London cast, however, the two main leads on the CD transferred to Broadway. And I saw the show and thought it was great. Cried my eyes out at the end actually. But I thought it was fun and visually interesting.

Posted: 5/28/12 at 2:15amYou can count me in as one of the few who enjoyed the show as well. Caissie Levy and Richard Fleeshman give very moving performances, there are some nice ballads in the score and the special effects used are spectacular.

Do a search on this, there are many that feel differently than those posting here. (I haven't seen it, I'm just passing on info.) The basic thought seems to boil down to this: the effects are pretty impressive but the score and book are pretty boring.
I dare suggest that it will pale in comparison to the other shows you are already seeing.
(That being said, what a lovely gesture to suprise your mum.)

Posted: 5/28/12 at 10:02amI am one who didn't like it. Although some of the stagecraft was wonderful founf the score terribly bland. Found the projections monotomous and head ache inducing. Why spend the money when you can have more fun renting the film?

Posted: 5/28/12 at 10:19amLOVED it! Most enjoyable show I've seen in a long time, and I've seen quite a few. Liked it more than most of the "critically acclaimed" shows I've seen in the past several years. Everyone I've recommended it to has loved it. I think you and your mom would too.

Posted: 5/28/12 at 4:21pmMom visited 2 weeks ago, I took her and she LOVED it. I would hardly call it not "meaningful" Like other posts above, great leads and design. Fun time!

Posted: 5/28/12 at 10:21pmI loved the show! And if this helps, I brought my mom to Ghost (she's in her mid 50's), and she loved it too! She thought all the leads were wonderful, that they had amazing voices and delivered a moving performance. We both really like the score as well. The two main leads (Caissie and Richard) are power houses and could really belt out their songs. The show was really touching, and really funny too at times. The sets and effects are nice bonuses too. It was a great day for us, we absolutely loved it! I hope you and your mom enjoy it if you decide to go! And enjoy your trip to NYC!!!
