Hello, first post here :) I'm wondering if anyone else is as excited to see GREASE-----I think Laura Osnes as Sandy is OUTSTANDING, and that Broadway is in for a real treat! I am from Minnesota (where Laura is also from) and am coming to NY in September to see the show, and I'm just counting the days. If anyone is familiar with the Brooks Atkinson theater, is the Stage Door easily found? Can't wait to go there after the show and see the cast. Thanks in advance for your time!!!

Welcome to the boards! The Brooks-Atkinson stage door is right outside the theatre. You can't miss it.
I am not excited about GREASE, but I'm glad to hear someone is.

I'm somewhat excited for the show, moreso for the supporting cast than for Laura or Max. I mean, Jenny Powers, Robyn Hurder, Matthew Saldivar, Allison Fischer- pretty exciting stuff.

Posted: 7/5/07 at 9:08amI'm a big reality TV fan and a big Broadway fan, but not a big Grease fan (can't really stand it, actually). I'm not bothered by the show, I don't see the difference between it and a non-equity call, besides the extra publicity garnered, but I just don't like the show very much.

Posted: 7/5/07 at 9:13amThey must be doing well at the B.O. I tried to get 2 tickets for a weekend early in August and had no luck Fri, Sat or Sun.

They happily boast an advance of at least $13 million.
But the show has a few things going for it:
1. The audience of the reality show (I know of people who bought tickets for their entire family before they even had a top 10 on the show).
2. Everyone goes ga-ga for Grease. It's one of the most well-known shows in the history of musical theater and would have an audience no matter who stars.
I'm excited, I must say...if only for the fact that it'll finally give me the opportunity to say "I remember the last production...." Never figured I'd be old enough to say that!

I watched the show faithfully since I wanted to support the theater any way I could.
When in NY, I may try and see it just to see how they did.

Posted: 7/5/07 at 9:48amI'm more excited about seeing the cast rather than the show itself. It would be pretty absurd, in my opinion, to shell out $120 to see this show. Even the nosebleed seats are too expensive. I hope there is some sort of rush or lotto that I can try.

Posted: 7/5/07 at 10:18amI'm not really excited, but certainly intrigued. I'll be at the first preview on July 24th and will write a full report when I get home.

Posted: 7/5/07 at 10:26amwell i love bad theatre so i'm definitely going :) i just hope the kids perform at the matinee and don't pull a John Lloyd Young on me.

Posted: 7/5/07 at 11:57amI was just walking by the theatre and noticed Max & Laura are below the title. I guess the producers don't want to offer refunds if it turns out they can't do 8 shows a week...

Posted: 7/5/07 at 12:04pmI am so excited about the supporting cast, but could not possibly care less about the two leads. Yay Jenny Powers, Jeb Brown, Jose Restrepo, Matt Saldivar, Kirsten Wyatt, and Allison Fischer! All amazing performers. I also think the Grease website is extremely well- done.

Posted: 7/5/07 at 12:29pmI am just as excited as Broadwaygirl3 to see the show. I loved Max and read on other Grease message boards that he is doing exceptionally well in rehearsalls especially singing his solo, "Sandy". I have seen other Broadway plays and have been impressed and know what he has to do to meet Broadway standards. He got better each week, and I think he will bring something new to the role to make Grease a little different. I will also be going to see the first preview so I will also give an honest recap. It actually was when I saw the rest of the cast at the end of the reality series that I decided I was definitely going to see the show. They were terrific portaying the nuances of their characters before even singing a word.

Posted: 7/5/07 at 12:36pmYep, or at least the supporting cast managed to portray them. That's part of the reason this is going to be a really interesting show to watch.

i cant belive that its this hard to see a second rate revival o GREASE! Any news about student rush?
#20re: GREASE
Posted: 7/5/07 at 12:42pmI highly doubt they'll have any way of getting cheap tickets

Maybe it won't be a second-rate revival. We can't tell until we've seen it.
I'm NOT a big GREASE fan, but I think Laura and Max are the only two reasons I'd see it (particularly Laura).
