"Near to you" Damn Yankees Broadway revival!!!!!!!!! The last trio still gets to me.
Yes, fliboi! It's possibly the best thing about the revival.
I also love "The Butterfly" from ZORBA.

i was gonna say one from bare, make me happy from the wild party, out of fashion from taboo, and will i from rent. (which is simple- but amazing...)
I think the score of HAIR has some great harmonies...a lot of very full, rich sounds. Rent has some good ones as well.
One of my favorite (and rather simple) harmonies is in Les Miz's "Finale": "Take my hand, and lead me to salvation..." That Fantine/Eponine harmony gives me chills.

"Worth it" Beautiful harmonies and beautiful song. Makes me cry every time. I know this CD is out of print, but you can find it for super cheap on ebay. It totally worth it!
The first one that popped into my mind was the very last chord of A Little Priest.

i totally agree with "the next 10 minutes"..there is so little harmony in the show that those harmonies just jump out and are so gorgeous.
i also love (for some reason, i have NO idea why!) in Ave. Q when they sing "sitting in the computer lab." it just works really well :)
and "dirty rotten number" @ the end, first of all, it's norbert singing high notes (which i LOOOOOOOOVE) and second, i love how it closes out the show
Okay, so here are mine.....
DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES
- Jim Steinman is a god of harmonic structure, and the harmony in "Braver Than We Are", "Say A Prayer", "Eternity", the finale, and just about any other song in the show that involved more than one person, is proof! I know the Broadway version "sucked", but the German score and overall production are great!
JEKYLL AND HYDE
- I know that not everyone is a fan of Frank Wildhorn, and my initial problem with him is the fact that a lot of the songs that are in his shows, don't seem to fit in the scene. However, you have to give him some mad credit! "In His Eyes" is quite breath-taking, "Dangerous Game" is spine tingling, "How Many Devils" is probably my favorite in terms of harmony, it's amazing. In Dracula the musical, I have to say that once again he didn't sacrafice the harmony at all...""Over Whitby Bay", "Life After Life", and any segment of music that the three vampires sang, were gorgeoulsy crafted.
ELISABETH
- Personally I'd have to say that overall this is probably one of my FAVORITE musicals of all time. This show is absolutely gorgeous, and the orchestrations and a music by Sylvester Levay, are to die for. Michael Kunze did an amazing job of crafting the book and lyrics for the musical, and flawlessy portrays one of the most accurate accounts of Sissi's life. "Milch", "Die Schatten Werden Langer", "Wenn Ich Tanzen Will", and the "Prologue", are amazing examples of what this show has to offer!
.....Anyhoo, the odd thing when you think about it is that a lot of the earlier musicals didn't have very intricate, or at least appealing harmony. Someone made a reference to "Tom, Dick, or Harry" from Kiss Me Kate, and while a fun song with fun harmony, it's nothing special! When comparing it to the shows opening today, the harmony is used much more effectively now. Examples of shows that utilize this include.....Aida, Wicked, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Parade, and so many others. A lot of "Theatre" people would say that this is because of the whole pop-influence, but honestly, harmony is extremely effective in conveying emotion in music, and doesn't always need to be used just for "splashy" show purposes, as it is in many of the classic musicals.
See Ya!

Love sneaks in from Dirty rotten scoundrels.
I know that John hasn't got a Broadway singing voice, but this son is amazing.
As far as modern harmonies with a lot of non-resolving and resolving, but gorgeous chords- both Larson's RENT and Tick, Tick...BOOM! have a ton of it (spefically "Another Day" &
"Finale B"-RENT and "Louder than Words"-TTB)
(so good)
I totally agree about the end of "Follow Your Heart" on Urinetown!! Thats a little less modern of a harmony.
"Last Night of the World" Miss Saigon. A pop ballad with pop harmony.
The end of "A Boy Like That/ I have a love" from West Side Story --SOBBING CAN OCCUR IN THE AUDIENCE IF THAT SONG IS DONE RIGHT!!
and lots of great more classic stuff that is not coming to my head right now!
My favs are:
Sideshow - Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner are amazing together!
Closer than Ever
Les Miz - I got chills when it was just mentioned above!
And maybe not spine-tingling but still great:
"I Know Now" from Snoopy (London cast)
