Is prostitution justifiable in this situation? Cause that may be the only way I make this.
They will both be on Best Behavior because they need each other.
Patti can never do Gypsy in New York without Arthur.
And Arthur will die--bitter and alone--without that One Last Hit Show unless he allows Patti to play Rose.

anyway, part of me just can't help but think: "gypsy"?!!....again?
I can understand why you'd think that, but LuPone's Rose at Ravina was revelation. I forgot I was watching a concert staging of a show that's almost fifty years old; LuPone tore the role like it was written for her.
Question: would you rather have a ticket for the show, or be a fly on the wall for the rehearsals?

PJ said:
"Full scale or concert, I'll be there for several performances."
PJ must have an awfully strong stomach Lupone's shenanigans in Candide, like Peters' performance in Annie Get Your Gun, invoked the "Don't pay good money to see them in anything but a new work" rule.
That's a rule I'm glad I didn't follow when I saw LuPone as Mrs. Lovett and Peters as Rose.
i agree, Rath. i love Patti live albeit even if half the time she mumbles her way through the lyrics.

I see a MAJOR Forbidden Broadway number rising from this...they've already addressed her in 'I Get a Kick Out of Me' and 'Patti Lupone' (sung to the tune of 'Anything Goes').
Patti hasn't mumbled since 1988. Seriously.
well when i saw her in Sweeney, as much as i loved her, i couldn't wait to run home and get the cast recording so i could understand what she was saying
Really, folky? I had no trouble.
I believe this ongoing falsehood about Patti mumbling is a right-wing conspiracy being spread by Dick Cheney and Karl Rove...
Oh, wait. Is this the Off Topic Board?
I can understand her, but she does tend to mumble. She does it onstage, and she even tended to do it when she guested on Law & order.
Then listen harder, madbrian! I had no problem understanding girlfriend either onstage or on all however many episodes of Life Goes On.

one of the things thats so wonderful about Patti is that, though i would kick ass to defend her, i know i dont have to, coz she can kick ass harder than i ever could!

LuPone in Gypsy again? Ho Hum. Big Whoop.
Good. One more ticket available.
Patti claims no one ever told her that she mumbled...
Oh and no more Forbidden Broadway spoofs. They're all the same damn thing.
I'm so excited for this, I'm shaking.

Excellent for all parties involved then! Patti will get a new swimming pool either from the profits off this or through a new fiasco with Laurents, get it the way she got the last one from Webber.
